Visit the world's Northernmost capital and some of its great, nearby attractions. This short tour includes airport transfers, accommodation and guided excursions from Reykjavik. You can also add extra nights and optional excursions to this tour.

Day 1 Reykjavik Arrival
On arrival at Keflavik Airport, transfer by airport bus to your hotel. The city centre is a small area, characterised by eclectic and colourful houses, good shopping and dining. Recently established as a haven for food lovers, Reykjavik has numerous restaurants and many take advantage of the abundance of local seafood, meat and game.

The city also has wonderful museums including the National Museum, displaying artefacts from the first settlement to the modern age, for an excellent overview of Iceland’s history and culture. The Reykjavik 871+2 Settlement Museum, an archaeological museum based around a 10thC Viking longhouse unearthed in 2001. You may also like the Reykjavik Art Museum and the National Gallery.

Day 2 Reykjavik: City Sightseeing and the Blue Lagoon 
Today enjoy a short Reykjavík city tour. See Althingi (Parliament Houese), Hallgrímskirkja church, Tjornin Lake in the city centre which is inhabited by numerous waterfowl and modern suburbs contrasting with the older parts of the city, with their colourful little houses and more.

This afternoon, tale a non-guided coach transfer from the city to the Blue Lagoon, passing lava fields along the way. Enjoy a relaxing soak in the rejuvenating, aquamarine waters, rich in minerals and possibly healing powers. Return to Reykjavik by coach, at the conclusion of your visit - you can choose between several departure times.

Day 3 Reykjavik: Golden Circle
This exciting excursion takes you to three of the 'must see' sights. Drive around Southern Iceland's fertile farming area and visit one of the most magnificent waterfalls, Gullfoss. Onwards to the erupting hot springs in Geysir area, before arriving at beautiful Þingvellir National Park. Here, the world's oldest parliament was founded in the year 930AD and the European and American tectonic plates almost meet in a spectacular setting.

Day 4 Reykjavik: Departure
Arrangements end with coach transfer to Keflavik Airport.

Wonders of Snaefellsnes Peninsula - 13 hours
The stunning landscapes have captured imaginations world-wide, ever since Jules Verne wrote Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Amazing Snaefellsjokull glacier is where that trip  began and even now, it continues to inspire great works of art. Most recently featured in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, you will also travel through Stykkisholmur village.
Departures: Wed, Sat - all year.   Sun only - 15-31 May and 01-15 Sep.   Mon, Thu, Sun - 01 Jun-31 Aug.

Snowmobiling, Ice Cave and Thermal Pools - 10.5 hours
Depart Reykjavík and head to Húsafell, Borgarfjörður, to start your journey up to Langjökull Ice Cap for a snowmobile trip from basecamp, on the west side of the Glacier. The appropriate gear and helmets, plus safety briefing are all provided by your guide, then you drive across the vast, white expanse. Enter a man-made Ice Cave and head deep into the glacier. Later, return to Húsafell settlement and soak in a thermal pool or relax in a hot tub. 2 persons per snowmobile; solo driver supplement applies; all driver's must produce a valid driver's license.

Ice Cave, Waterfalls and Hot Springs - 9 hours
After almost five years of preparation by top engineers and geo-physicists, you can now  explore Langjokull ice tunnel, located high on Europe’s second largest glacier. This is the world’s first and biggest, man-made Ice Cap Glacier tunnel and your adventurous  journey starts by bus to Borgarfjordur area. On the way to the edge of the glacier you'll stop and see Deildartunguhver, Europe's largest hot spring and Hraunfossar, a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming over a distance of about 900m, out of a lava field. At the glacier, hop onbaord a monster, 8 wheel, glacier truck to reach the ice cave's entrance. Inside, you'll see unimaginable colours of blue and learn how glaciers hide the secrets of history. Spend around 50 minutes within the glacier, then head back to Reykjavik through Kaldidalur highland track. Also visit Thingvellir National Park's amazing scenery and historical sites. N.B. visit to Thingvellir N.P. only possible from Jun-Sep, due to the closure of Kaldidalur highland track.

South Coast and Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon - approx. 13.5-14 hours
Drive along Iceland's stunning south shore to extraordinary Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon. En-route you pass small villages, Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls, and Skaftafell National Park - the green oasis at the foot of Vatnajokull, Europe's largest glacier. At Jokulsarlon, enjoy a magnificent boat tour between floating icebergs and other large blocks of ice, as they make their way towards the ocean having originated from Vatnajokull glacier, which sits on the edge of the lagoon's still, cold waters. Late evening return to Reykjavik.

Game of Thrones Revisited - 8 hours
Travel to Thingvellir National Park and walk down the impressive Almannagja gorge, stomping ground of the White Walkers, as well as the trail of the Wildlings from North of the Wall. You’ll be able to soak up the raw, dramatic and magnificent natural atmosphere, as you hear from the guide about the symbolic significance of the setting, in context with the Game of Thrones plot. Also explore Thjorsardalur Valley and the Settlement Era Viking Lodge. The tour was designed with help from Hafthor Juliusson, the Icelandic actor better known as The Mountain. Indulge your senses and imagination in some of Iceland's other film locations, including some  used in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Waterfalls, South Shore and Black Sand Beaches - 10 hours
Drive along the country's South Coast, one of the most scenic regions, as far as Vik village and  it's surrounding high bird cliffs. En-route, we stop at gorgeous Seljalandsfoss waterfall, were you can walk behind it and through to the other side. Also stop at much-photographed Skogafoss waterfall, with its 60m drop. Other highlights include views of amazing Myrdalsjokull glacier, the black sand coastline and impressive Reynisdrangar rock formations.

Puffin Express - 1 hour
Sail out from Reykjavik's Old Harbour aboard an wonderful wooden boat - the best way to get close to the famous birds. The Atlantic Puffin is one of only three species in the world and while they are clumsy flyers, their colourful beaks and great diving skills are famous. Lundey and Akurey are two small islands located in Reykjavík bay area, just 15 minutes from the pier and they are covered with small hills, slopes and a multitude of birdlife. The islands' shores are rocky but our vessel is especially designed to take us close by, due to its shallow draught. A camera with a zoom lens offers the best photo opportunities, since the puffins are so small.  When we arrive, we turn off the engines to best observe the birds and surroundings. The licensed guide tells us all about the Puffins and other interesting birds that are often seen, including Northern Fulmars, Gulls, Arctic Terns and Black Guillemots. Binoculars provided.  Departures: Daily - from May to mid-Aug. 

Horse-riding - Lava Tour - 4 hours
Take an adventurous ride across lava fields around Mt. Helgafell or Lake Hvaleyrarvatn, on a unique Icelandic Horse, They have been bred since settlement, in isolation from the outside world and have a smooth riding quality including a fifth gait, the tolt. See different rock forms and you may even spot a troll or two, as the beautiful Blafjoll mountains tower on the horizon.  The horseride is 1.5-2 hours, including stops.

Whale Watching -  approx. 2-3.5 hours
Depart from the Old Harbour, Reykjavik, on this great tour. Whales are beautiful animals and one of nature’s most extraordinary sights. Experienced guides onboard will share their wealth of whale knowledge, as well as some interesting facts and old sea stories about encounters with these magnificent creatures. The whales around these parts are not shy, often surfacing quite close to the boat and, as our sea-faring guides will tell you, to see a whale up close is truly is a sight to remember.
