Day 1  Moscow Arrival
Upon arrival in Moscow, transfer to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day exploring central Moscow on your own then in the evening, meet your guide in the hotel lobby. 3 nights at your hotel. 

Day 2  Moscow Sightseeing: Red Square,  St. Basil's Cathedral, Christ the Savior Church, Novodevichy Cemetery and more
Begin the day with a city tour of Moscow including a walk in Red Square,  St. Basil's Cathedral, Christ the Savior Church, Novodevichy Cemetery, and the GUM department store. 

Day 3 Moscow Sightseeing: Kremlin & Armoury Museum
This morning we enter the Kremlin for a visit to the Armory Museum with its collection of tsarist thrones, ceremonial crowns, coaches and gifts of state. Continue to the beautifully frescoed 15th-century Assumption and Archangel cathedrals.  

Day 4 Moscow: Tretyakov Gallery & Metro and Afternnon Embarkation
The morning is at leisure then around midday we visit the Tretyakov Gallery to view its extraordinary collection of Russian art, ranging from 12th-century icons to 20th-century paintings. This is followed by an excursin to the Moscow Metro, to view it's splendid artworks and architecture. In the afternoon,  transfer to the  MS Volga Dream and begin sailing along the Russian waterways. Gather for the Captain's Bread, Salt & Vodka Welcome Aboard Ceremony then dinner, as we begin our river cruise.

Day 5 Uglich
We arrive today in Uglich, which dates back to the 10th century. A walking tour of this Golden Ring city includes the Chapel of Dimitry, a 17th-century treasure built on the site where Ivan the Terrible’s 10-year-old son met his death, and a visit to the Church of the Transfiguration, noted for its beautiful iconostasis. As weel, we attend an enchanting concert of choral music.

Day 6 Yaroslavl
Founded in 1010, Yaroslavl is one of the oldest cities in central Russia and the Volga’s first port. Admire the mosaics at the Church of Elijah the Prophet, visit Spassky Monastery with  the Transfiguration of the Saviour and see richly  decorated merchant residences along the river, then enjoy a costumed performance at the governor’s palace, before re-boarding the Volga Dream.

Day 7 Goritsky
In the tiny settlement of Goritzy, visit the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, founded in 1397, and now home to one of the best collections of Russian icons in the world. After a guided tour, continue cruising toward majestic Lake Onega. Tonight enjoy a Russian dinner with vodka tasting.

Day 8 Kizhi Island
This afternoon explore the tiny, picturesque island of Kizhy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Lake Onega. The open-air Museum of Architecture includes the Church of the Transfiguration, a unique onion-domed masterpiece built without a single metal nail and resembling something out of a Russian fairy tale, as well as the Intercession Cathedral and a traditional Izba or pastry shop.  

Day 9 Svirstroy
Be on deck as we navigate the Svir River toward Lake Ladoga, Europe's largest freshwater lake, past a shoreline dotted with graceful willows, alder trees and stately pines. Step ashore for a visit to the typical, quaint wooden Russian village of Mandrogi for a glimpse of daily life, and a taste of tea and traditional pies at a local resident's home. Back on board for a barbeque lunch on the open deck

Day 10 St Petersburg 
We reach St. Petersburg this morning, where we disembark. St Petersburg, which Peter the Great transformed from marshland into a vibrant city of islands, canals, bridges and pastel-coloured palaces, is a truly wonderful Imperial city! Enjoy an orientation tour of the city, including the Peter and Paul Fortress, (the family shrine of the Romanov family),  a walk around the spit of Basil Island, and photos stops at St Issac's Cathedral and the Church of the Spilled Blood.  Following lunch, a visit to the famed Hermitage Museum, whose 400 rooms contain spectacular examples of nearly all of the schools of Western art, including one of the greatest collections of French impressionist works. Then transfer to your hotel for the next 3 nights.

Day 11 St Petersburg 
Begin today with a visit to the meticulously restored Peterhof, St. Petersburg’s most famous and spectacular Imperial estate, often cited as the Versailles of Russia. Visit the authentic Bath Cottage and stroll in the vast Lower Park with 176 fountains of various forms and styles and four cascades, majestic palaces and numerous gilded statues of ancient gods and heroes.  After lunch, return to St. Petersburg and explore the city centre on your own.

Day 12 St Petersburg 
This morning we drive to Zarskoye Selo (the Tsar’s Village) for a visit to Catherine’s Palace. See the exquisitely restored Amber Room and stroll in the formal gardens, before lunch at a local restaurant, then a return to St. Petersburg. In the afternoon, a visit to the fabulous Faberge Museum.

Day 13 St Petersburg Departure
Transfer to the airport this morning for your departure flight.
