Kakslauttanen Hotel and Igloo Village in Northern Finland, has log cabins with fireplaces and glass igloos for viewing the magical Northern Lights. Guided dog-sledding, snowmobiling and reindeer-sleigh rides can all be enjoyed, along with other optional activities, plus Santa comes to visit on Christmas Eve. With so much to do, you may need to stay longer!  Your tour arrangements include accommodation, airport transfers and guided excursions.

23 December: Ivalo Arrival - Aurora  Search by Horse-drawn Sleigh
Transfer from Ivalo Airport to Kakslauttanen. Cosy log cabins have a kitchenette, private facilities + sauna and come in various sizes, sleeping from 2–10 persons. Remainder of the day at leisure, perhaps visit the glass kota & ice chapel within the village. Or enjoy some of the other optional excursions which include a snowmobile safari, ice-fishing & a SIIDA Cultural Centre visit.  In the evening enjoy a magical Northern Lights Safari by horse drawn sleigh, on this delightful 1.5 hour experience.

24 December: Visit Santa’s Home and Tieva Chapel
Visit the home of Santa & Mrs. Claus, where elves serve warm drinks & gingerbread; you can also pick up a very unique souvenir. After lunch, it’s time to decorate the Christmas tree, before heading back to your cosy log cabin. Late afternoon departure for the service at Tieva Chapel, before a festive dinner this evening. The joy of Christmas continues when Santa & his reindeer visit & listen to the children’s songs. (Please bring a small gift for Santa to give to your child). 

25 December: Christmas Day - Husky Safari
What better way to spend Christmas morning than on a 2 hour Husky safari, discovering the magnificent white wilderness with eager and friendly dogs! Remainder of the day at leisure – perhaps make use of the free sleds on the illuminated ski trails nearby.  

26 December: Reindeer Farm Visit and Overnight in Igloo
Travel to a nearby reindeer farm to learn about the everyday life of the traditional Sami people. Afternoon at leisure. Tonight spend the night in a Glass Igloo – experience an evening like never before!  Settle in and relax amid the surrounding quiet!  Or you can stay in a Snow Igloo (only for families with children of over 8 years) and truly experience an arctic night like no other.

27 December: Departure
Morning sauna, then transfer to Ivalo airport and end of arrangements.

Tour Notes: The excursions operate with a minimum of 2 persons - if you are a solo traveller and there is no second person booked on an excursion, you may be required to pay additional fees in order for the excursion to proceed. Please note the order of the excursions may alter according to the day of the week your arrangements start.

Snowmobile Safaris: To drive a snowmobile you must have a valid driving license and be 18 years of age or over. All single travellers must drive their own snowmobile solo. Children over 130cm in height may sit as a passenger behind an adult driver on a snowmobile only if the child is paying the adult price. Children under 130 cm in height sit in a sled pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Children under 2 are not permitted on snowmobile safaris. Please note in the event of extreme weather or poor trail conditions small children may not be allowed to participate in safaris.

Husky Safaris: To drive a husky sled you must weigh at least 50kg. Children under 18 years usually travel in one big sled driven by the guide. During the shorter safaris a maximum of 2 adults + 2 children may be permitted to share one sled driven by the adults. During the longer safaris 2 adults usually drive each sled in pairs and all children sit together in one big sled driven by the guide. The guide has the discretion to decide who may or may sit in a sled driven by adults and who must sit in the guide’s sled for all safaris. Children under 2 are not permitted on husky safaris. Please note in the event of extreme weather or poor trail conditions small children may not be allowed to participate in safaris.
