Enjoy the best of Arctic winter fun with exciting day excursions whilst each night returning to the comfort of your hotel. On this tour you are based in Tromso, a charming town in northern Norway above the Arctic Circle. Each day enjoy wonderful winter activities including an exhilarating dog sled safari, a hunt for the Northern Lights, a magical trip on a reindeer drawn sleigh to a Sami village, a harbour cruise in search of the Northern Lights, a fun snowshoe walk through the forest and an unforgettable snowmobile adventure. Each night return to your cosy hotel room to relax and enjoy the restaurants and cafes of the town.

You can also include an overnight stay at a wilderness camp, in a truly wonderful winter setting.

Day 1: Tromso Arrival
On arrival at Tromso make your own way to your hotel. This university town has a lively atmosphere and friendly locals. Perhaps visit the Arctic Cathedral for it’s daring architecture, the Polaria Aquarium (don’t miss the Northern Lights & Spitsbergen Arctic Wilderness films), the Polar Museum to learn about the role Tromsø has played in Arctic exploration, and the MS Polstjerna, a well preserved sailing vessel from 1949.

Day 2: Dog Sled Safari and Northern Lights Hunt
Enjoy the amazing arctic coastal landscape with fantastic views over Tromsø, surrounded by white covered mountains and long fjords on this dog sled trip. With 2 persons per sled sharing the driving, there’s a good chance of spotting wildlife on the way through the snow covered landscapes as you travel behind your four legged, furry friends. After the exciting dog-sled ride, return to the ranch to meet the puppies and other dogs and enjoy a unique light meal served around an open fire in an traditional snug Sami tent. Remainder of the day at leisure.

Then tonight enjoy a hunt for the fabled Northern Lights, travelling to a cosy camp site 25 minutes away from town, where you can relax in comfort on reindeer skins around the fire, while you look out for the aurora. A hot meal is included. Return to Tromso at about 22:30hrs.

Day 3: Reindeer Sled Ride & Sami Culture & Optional Overnight in Wilderness Camp
Reindeer-sledding is the oldest form of transport in the north and an ancient part of Sami culture. You will drive in pairs, with one sled for each reindeer. This cultural adventure includes lasso-throwing, the way the Sami people still today catch their reindeers and a fascinating explanation of Sami culture and history. A tasty traditional hot meal is included. Return to the hotel.

You have the option tonight to stay in a cosy wilderness camp away from the city, where no light pollution interrupts your views of the Northern Lights! The wilderness camp is comfortable, but does not have electricity or running water. Accommodation and facilites are shared. There are no bathrooms but there are composting toilets. A true winter adventure! If you choose to stay in the wilderness camp,  you will still keep your hotel room in Tromso, so all you need to take with you to the camp is a small overnight bag.

Day 4: Snowmobile Adventure
You don't need any previous skills to drive a snowmobile; all you need is enthusiasm! After a thorough safety introduction, start your engines! The trail is 15km each way, starting at 250m above sea level and winding up to 875m. You will be driving in pairs, one driver and one passenger on each snowmobile, with the opportunity to switch places during the trip. The highlight of the trail is travelling over a frozen lake, where you can really feel the Arctic air! At the end of the trip, enjoy a hot, light meal in a lavvu. A valid driver's license is required to drive the snowmobile.

Day 5: Snowshoe Walk & Evening Northern Lights Cruise
This morning enjoy a self-guided snowshoe nature walk. Follow your fancy into the area of Kvaløya to explore the North Norwegian spectacular winter landscapes - you will see the fjords and mountains surrounding Tromsø and you might get a closer look at some of the local wildlife such as reindeer, moose and different kinds of birds.  You will be provided with suggested routes with easy terrain. When you return, relax in one of the Sami Tents and enjoy a coffee, prior to the transfer back to Tromso.

Afternoon at leisure to relax or explore Tromso. In the evening, enjoy a harbour tour to see the Northern Lights from the sea. This is one of the best spots as you are away from light pollution. Aboard the warm, comfortable boat with a heated lounge, you will also get a great view of Tromso itself. A dinner of tradtional Norwegian fish soup is included. Pick up at 20.00 from the downtown harbour; return to the harbour at 23.00.
