Discover the immense variety of nature on this tour of Greenland, seeing the beautiful and fertile south with the fascinating history of the Vikings. Start in Qaqortoq then on to Nuuk, Greenland's capital and finally llulissat, town of the Icebergs

Choose from tours of 6 or 9 days in length, with departures from Reykjavik or Copenhagen. The 6 day itinerary is shown immediately below and the 9 day itinerary follows.

Day 1 Copenhagen or Reykjavik to Qaqortoq via Narsarsuaq
Flight from Copenhagen or Reykjavik to Narsarsuaq, then transfer to the pier, to travel by boat through the fjord to Qaqortoq. Check-in at Hotel Qaqortoq, followed by an information meeting & a short guided walk in the town. Welcome dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 Qaqortoq: Boat Trip to the Inland Ice Cap
Travel by boat to the Inland Ice Cap and the Twin Glaciers. If the weather permits, we may go ashore very close to glaciers. From here we get the chance to see the Ice Cap from below, and feel the massive power of nature. The tour includes lunch.

Day 3 Qaqortoq - Nuuk
Amazing helicopter transfer flying over the ice and arctic waters to Nuuk, via Narsarsuaq. Nuuk is Greenland’s small capital city, a charming town with traditional brightly coloured houses.Transfer to your hotel for check-in. Next, enjoy a tour of the city including the Colonial Harbour, the National Museum, the beautiful Our Saviours Church built in 1894, the Parliament, and the Atlantic harbour, which is usually full of life. Remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 4 Nuuk– Ilulissat; Town Walk and Midnight Cruise Amongst the Icebergs
Transfer to the airport for your Air Greenland flight from Nuuk to Ilulissat. Transfer to your hotel, followed by information meeting and a guided town walk. Your guide will tell you about the history of Ilulissat and you will visit the old part of town and see buildings from the very start of the Danish trading station, the busy fishing harbour, the old church and the museum. Welcome dinner at Hotel Arctic.

This evening after dinner enjoy a midnight cruise amongst the icebergs. The midnight sun and the warm red colours reflecting in the gigantic icebergs is a fantastic sight. Cruise between the icebergs and enjoy a late drink on "the real rocks" ! The cruise includes light refreshments.

Day 5 Ilulissat: Day at Leisure
Today you may choose to enjoy some of the great optional excursions offerd in Ilulissat such as:

* Walk to the Icebergs of Sermermiut 3 hrs

* Visit by boat to the old hunters’ Settlement of Rodebay 6 hrs includes lunch

* Visit by boat to the old hunters’ Settlement of Ilimanaq 6 hrs includes lunch

* whale watching safari 5 hrs

Fishing Tour 6 hrs

* Feed the huskies 1 hr

* guided hike on the delightful Cecily trail 8  hours: please note you have to be in good physical shape as this is a medium level hike

* amazing flightseeing tours 35 minutes or 45 minutes or 1 hour

Farewell dinner at Hotel Arctic tonight. 

Day 6 Departure
Transfer to the airport for the return flight to Reykjavik or Copenhagen and end of arrangements.

South to North 9 Day Itinerary

Day 1 Copenhagen or Reykjavik to Qaqortoq via Narsarsuaq
Flight from Copenhagen or Reykjavik to Narsarsuaq, then transfer to the pier, to travel by boat through the fjord to Qaqortoq. Check-in at Hotel Qaqortoq, followed by an information meeting & a short guided walk in the town. Welcome dinner at the hotel.

Day 3 Qaqortoq: Day at Leisure
Day at leisure to relax or perhpas choose one of the unique optional excursions available, such as a guided tour into the beautiful Hvalsey Fjord, or a visit to the hot springs in Uunartoq.

Day 4 Qaqortoq - Nuuk

Day 6 Ilulissat: Icebergs of Sermermiut & Midnight Sun Cruise
Travel by bus as far as the road goes, then enjoy a beautiful guided walk along the UNESCO designated Ilulissat Ice Fjord to Sermermiut, where traces from the 3 old Inuit cultures can still be seen. Sermermiut is a fertile valley next to the Ice Fjord, so here you can enjoy flowers which can be a rare Greenland sight, as well as the fantastic icebergs. Light refreshments are included and the excursion takes about 3 hours. Dinner at Hotel Arctic tonight

Day 7  Ilulissat:  Hunter's Settlements of Rodeday or Ilimanaq
Choose between 2 great excursions-  a visit to the small old hunters settlements at Rodebay or Ilimanaq.

Old hunters’ Settlement of Rodebay:  travel by boat to the small settlement  Oqaatsut, also known as Rodebay, with a local population of less than 40 people, largely dependent on fishing and hunting - a quite different world compared to that of Ilulissat. Oqaatsut in Greenlandic means " the cormorants" and the village was then named Rodebay by Dutch whalers in the 18th century. The settlement is about 20km north of Ilulissat on a little peninsula facing the island of Disko. Your tour includes lunch. Tour duration : 6hrs

Old hunters’ settlement of Ilimanaq:  travel by boat to the small settlement  of Ilimanaq, situated just south of the Kangia Ice Fjord. The settlement was founded around 1741 and the current population is approx 80 inhabitants. The boat tour to Ilimanaq itakes you among the massive icebergs that lie at the mouth of the Ilulissat icefjord. Your tour includes lunch. Tour duration : 6hrs

Day 8 Ilulissat: Day at Leisure
Today relax and enjoy some free time or take one of the great optional excursions offered:

* whale watching safari 5 hrs

Fishing Tour 6 hrs

* Feed the huskies 1 hr

* guided hike on the delightful Cecily trail 8  hours: please note you have to be in good physical shape as thsi is a medium level hike
