This tour offers a range of more active excursions, from your base in Reykjavik. Drive an ATV to Mount Hafrafell and visit Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir geothermal area; take a snowmobile to the top of Mýrdalsjökull glacier plus visit Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls; and enjoy a guided walk into the Víðgelmir lava cave, finishing with a relaxing soak in a geothermal pool.

Day 1 Reykjavik Arrival
Arrive in Reykjavik and transfer by coach to your hotel. Time at leisure. The city centre is a small area characterised by eclectic and colourful houses, good shopping and dining. Reykjavík has recently established itself as a haven for food lovers, with numerous restaurants taking advantage of the abundance of local seafood, meat and game.

Reykjavik has many wonderful museums including the National Museum displaying artefacts from the first settlement to the modern age, giving an excellent overview of Iceland’s history and culture, the Reykjavik 871+2 Settlement Museum, an archaeological museum based around a 10th-century Viking longhouse unearthed in 2001, the Reykjavik Art Museum and the National Gallery.

Day 2  ATV & Golden Circle Express
Today start with a fun drive by ATV to the top of Mount Hafrafell, from where the views are quite extraordinary.  The ATV drive includes use of a helmet, balaclava & insulated overall.

Then travel by coach around Southern Iceland's fertile farming area to explore the three 'must see' sights that together form the "Golden Circle".  Start at Gulfoss, a beautiful double golden waterfall that tumbles 34m into the Hvítá river. Next stop is Geysir, the active geothermal area where we see Strokkur (The Churn) as it spouts 25m up in the air, every five to ten minutes. Continue to the ancient Viking Parliament area of Þingvellir National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is of exceptional geological and historical interest. See for yourself where the continental tectonic plates of America and Eurasia are slowly drifting apart, in a stunning setting.

Day 3 South Coast and Snowmobile Adventure
Start with a visit to two of the South Coast’s best waterfalls, Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss, before heading to the glacier. After preparations at base camp, we drive towards the icecap in a special glacier truck. From there, drive in snowmobiles to the top of Mýrdalsjökull, for some amazing views and the chance to take unforgettable photographs. The excursion includes use of a helmet, balaclava & insulated overall.

Day 4  Lava Cave & Geothermal Adventure
Drive through beautiful Borgarfjörður towards Húsafell. On the way, stop at Europe's most powerful hot spring, Deildartunguhver, before arriving at magnificent Hraunfossar waterfalls. After a break in Husafell, head to Víðgelmir cave, one of the largest natural lava caves in the world. Start an exciting guided walk, through the cave's array of colours, as you learn about its history and geological uniqueness, dating all the way back to the Viking age. Afterwards, relax in the warm waters of a geothermal pool at Húsafell, before heading back to Reykjavík.
