Enjoy the premier sights of St Petersburg, as well as beautiful palaces and gardens just outside the city, on this fantastic short but comprehensive tour. Highlights include the Peter & Paul’s Fortress, Vasilyevsky Spit, Palace Square, the amazing Church of the Saviour of the Spilled Blood,  Nevsky Prospect, the majestic St Isaac's Cathedral, the Hermitage Art Museum, Catherine's Palace, Yusupov Palace, and Peterhof Palace.

Then continue by train to Moscow, where highlights include Red Square, St Basil’s Cathedral,  the Kremlin, Novodevichy Cathedral, the astonishing  Metro stations, fashionable Arbat Street and more. Each day explore these historic cities with your private car, driver and English speaking guide, so you can make the absolute most of your time here. Extra nights can be added in either or both cities, and the tour can be done in reverse, from Moscow to St Petersburg.

Day 1 St. Petersburg Arrival
Upon arrival at the airport or railway station, private transfer to your hotel. Check in and start exploring on your own, in this city rightly known as "The Venice of the North". Wander the canals and wide streets to marvel at the astonishing architecture, or perhaps taste some traditional  vodka at one of the many restaurants and bars!

Day 2 City Sightseeing and the Hermitage Art Museum
Breakfast at the hotel. Your privately guided morning sightseeing tour of the city includes Peter & Paul’s Fortress, Vasilyevsky Spit, Palace Square, the amazing Church of the Saviour of the Spilled Blood,  Nevsky Prospect, and the majestic St Isaac's Cathedral.  The afternoon is then devoted to the many wonderful treasures of the world famous Hermitage Museum. This historic former palace is filled with countless works of art and houses one of the oldest and largest collections in the world.

Day 3 Catherine's Palace (Tsarskoe Selo) and Pavlovsk Palace and Park
Breakfast at the hotel. Then meet your guide for the leisurely drive into the countryside, to the charming town of Pushkin (aka Tsarskoe Selo), to visit the luxurious and light filled Catherine’s Palace, including its famous Amber Room, magically reconstructed by specialist artisans after being lost during the second World War. Enjoy a stroll through the lovely gardens or through the delightful tree filled town. In the afternoon, continue on to Pavlovsk, the elegant and gracious former Imperial palace on the outskirts of the city. The inner rooms and halls are still as lavishly decorated as they were during the time of Tzar Paul 1, and the palace is surrounded by 1500 acres of glorious gardens, pavilions and monuments.  

Day 4 Yusupov Palace and Departure for Moscow
Breakfast at the hotel. Then meet your guide for the morning's privately guided visit to the majestic Yusupov Palace, on the banks of the river. Across the years it has been home to Russian nobility and is now a museum. The palace was made famous as the site of Rasputin’s alleged murder just prior to the Revolution. This beautiful and sophisticated small palace allows you to see first hand the opulent lifestyle of it's former wealthy residents. In the afternoon, private transfer to the railway station for your train trip through the Russian countryside to Moscow. Please note there is no escort for this train trip. On arrival at Moscow Railway station, private transfer to your hotel and check in. Moscow - The Mother of Russia - is a genuine Russian city, with the Kremlin and its onion domed cathedrals. The dramatic changes over the last decade have made the city one of the most dynamic metropolis' in the world, yet still the city retains it's historic and imperial majesty.

Day 5 Moscow :  Red Square, Lenin Mausoleum, Novodevichy Convent, the Kremlin & More
After breakfast, meet your guide for your privately guided morning sightseeing tour. The tour includes the highlights of Moscow, such as Red Square, the Lenin Mausoleum and Tverskaya Street.  Then continue on to Novodevichy Convent, before reaching the Lenin Hills, where there is a wonderful panoramic view of the city. You’ll also see the Moscow State University of Lomonosov, and pass along Kutusov Street, to Victory Park complete with fountains and churches.  In the afternoon, enjoy a tour of the  Kremlin, including one of its ancient cathedrals. This historic, fortified complex forms the very heart of Moscow, and is an outstanding example of the city's unique architectural style. 

Day 6 Moscow Metro + Arbat or Sergiev Posad
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you can either take the Metro + Arbat Tour  or the Sergiev Posad tour.

The Metro + Arbat Tour (3 hours): some of the deepest subway stations in the world are in Moscow, and are adorned with exceptional mosaics, lighting and murals. On this privately guided walking tour, enjoy the stunning decoration and interiors of these beautifully preserved and historic, working stations. You will also explore the Arbat, Moscow's vibrant 1 kilometere long pedestrian street, withbuildings dating from the 15th century, and today filled with shops, and galleries.

Or you can take a privately guided tour into the countryside to visit Sergiev Posad (6 hours). Founded in the 14th century, Sergiev Posad is home to the St Sergius Monastery, one of the largest in monasteries in Russia, and it is considered to be the ‘Vatican’ of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Day 7 Moscow Departure
Breakfast at the hotel. Your tour concludes with a private departure transfer to the airport or railway station.
