Experience the Faroe Islands, including some of the more remote islands, in a truly local way as you travel through the islands by ferry and bus. Discover small village communities and their traditional ways of life. The bird paradise Mykines and the Viking island of Skúvoy are just some of the high points of this tour.  Your tour arrangements include accommodation, airport transfers, local transport and excursions.

Day 1 Sunday  Copenhagen* - Vagar
Make your own way to the Copenhagen* airport for your flight to the Faroe Islands. On arrival transfer to your accommodation on Vágar. The rest of the day is on your own. Dinner at your accommodation tonight is included.

Day 2 Monday  Vagar - Sorvagur - Mykines Island
This morning travel by ferry from the village of Sørvagur on Vaga Island to Mykines Island, sailing past magnificent cliff faces (the travel time is approximately 45 minutes each way). On arrival, check into your accommodation then time at leisure -  Mykines is home to thousands of migrating birds and you can get very close to many of them. 2 nights on Mykines with 2 picnic lunches and 2 dinners.

Day 3 Tuesday Mykines Guided Hike
Today enjoy a guided hike to Mykinesolmur, where you can spot charming puffins with their colourful beaks and impressive gannets, which only breed on the isolated isle to the west of the main island- a footbridge across the North Atlantic Ocean, 35 metres above the sea, that connects the isle with the main island. The free standing rock formations that surround the lighthouse at the edge of the sea cliff are a breathtakingly beautiful sight to behold. 2nd night on Mykines.

Day 4 Wednesday Mykines - Vágar - Skúvoy
This morning return by ferry from Mykines to Sorvagur, then travel by local bus and ferry via the island of Sandoy to Skúvoy, where the famous Viking chieftain Sigmundur Brestisson built the Faroe Islands’ first Christian church. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed at a private home to enjoy coffee and cake - your host can also recommend some suitable self guided walks for you. Overnight with dinner on Skúvoy.

Day 5  Thursday Skúvoy to Sandoy, the Saga Island
Return by ferry from Skúvoy to Sandoy, also called the Saga Island. Upon arrival on Sandoy, meet your local driver/ guide for a sightseeing tour of the island, which has been inhabited since the age of the Vikings. Visit the villages of Sandur, Dalur and Húsavík, and listen to exciting sagas and stories, then continue on to the village of Skálavík. A picnic lunch today and dinner tonight are included. Spend the night in Skálavík.

Day 6 Friday Sandoy to Nolsoy
Today travel by bus and ferry to Tórshavn, then continue by ferry to the island of Nólsoy. Upon arrival, visit the tourist office for assistance with locating your overnight accommodation. Then take a walk with a local guide through the village and enjoy the island's attractions, such as seeing Rowing Ove’s boat, the "Diana Victoria". In 1986, Ove rowed alone from the Faroe Islands to the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen, Denmark! Then later, on your own, perhaps walk to the top of the island, for a beautiful panoramic view of Tórshavn and the surrounding islands. A picnic lunch today is included. Spend the night on Nólsoy.

Day 7 Saturday Nolsoy to Torshavn
Return to Tórshavn by bus and ferry, then time to explore Tórshavn on your own. We recommend a visit to the art gallery, Faroese National Museum, The Nordic House, and the old city quarters Tinganes and Reyn. It’s also possible to hike over the mountain from Tórshavn to the cultural centre of the islands, Kirkjubøur. Spend the night in Tórshavn.
