Enjoy the pristine nature, scenery, history and traditions of the Faroe Islands on this relaxed tour, with a series of fascinating guided day excursions, from your base in Torshavn.

Day 1 Copenhagen* - Torshavn
Make your own way to the Copenhagen* Airport for your flight to Torshavn. On arrival, transfer from the airport to your accommodation in Torshavn.

Day 2 Torshavn: Kirkjubøur, historical heart of the Faroes
The little village of Kirkjubøur is located on the south west coast of Streymoy and offers a stunning view of the islands Hestur and Koltur. In the Middle Ages it was the Faroese Episcopal See, which made it the country’s spiritual and cultural hub. From Tórshavn drive up across beautiful mountains, past the village of Velbastaður, clinging to the steep slopes. Visit Magnus Cathedral, built around the year 1300 by Bishop Erlendur, St. Olaf’s Church and the Kirkjuböargarður estate farmhouse of Roykstovan, a stave house dating back to the turn of the first millennium, said to be the world’s oldest inhabited wooden house. Then enjoy hot drinks and pastries at Roykstovan, before returning to Torshavn.

Day 3 Torshavn: Day at Leisure
Day to relax and explore, or you can take an optional tour to Nólsoy Island - take the ferry from Tórshavn to the neighbouring island Nósloy. Here life moves at a slow pace. At the tourist office meet your guide who will take you on a tour of the village. Visit Brunn, a house built of driftwood from the 1600 century and Rowing Ove’s boat, Diana Victoria. In 1986 Ove rowed alone from the Faroe Islands to the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen. A light lunch is served, then the remainder of the day is free. You might like to hike to the top of the island, before taking the ferry back to Torshavn.

Day 4 Torshavn: Streymoy and Eysturoy Islands
Today a guided day trip from Tórshavn, travelling along the mountain roads to the Nordradalsskard mountain pass, from where you can again see the islands of Koltur and Hestur. Continue to Kollafjordur, the longest village in the Faroes, on Streymoy's west coast - the characteristic church here dates from 1837. Then continue over the bridge that connects Streymoy and Eysturoy towards the village of Eiði, for  a wonderful view of Slættaratindur, the Faroe Island’s highest mountain. Then on to Soldarfjordur, part of a chain of villages stretching along the entire east side of the Skalafjordur inlet, where you will enjoy coffee and cake at "Gardahusid", a cosy 19th century country home. Then return to Torshavn.

Day 5 Torshavn: Gjogv Village
The village of Gjógv is nestled on the outermost north eastern tip of Eysturoy. On the way, enjoy a walk on the bridge connecting the islands of Streymoy and Eysturoy, and see the imposing summits of Slættaratindur (882 metres) and Gráfelli (857 metres), the tallest mountains in the archipelago. Gjógv is famed for its picturesque scenery, and is dotted with multi-coloured old houses, built around the natural harbour, which lies protected in the gorge that has given the village its name. Explore the village before heading to its charming guesthouse, Gjáargarður, for lunch. Then return to Torshavn.

Day 6 Torshavn: Saksun and Hvalvík
Today's tour takes you from Torshavn to Saksun, a picturesque village at the bottom of what was once an inlet, surrounded by steep mountains. The inlet formed a deep tranquil natural harbour, now blocked with sand to create the lake below the village. Then visit Dúvugarður farm, which predates the 17th century, and offers a glimpse of how the Faroese lived in former days, and the Saksun church, built in 1858. Our next stop is at Hvalvík village, located in a valley on Streymoy’s east coast. Here you will visit Hvalvík church, the oldest church in the Faroe Islands. From here as you look out to sea, just 15 metres off shore you can see the wreck of an old wooden ship. On the way back to Torshavn, travel via the high mountain road of Oyggjarvegurin, for incomparable views.
