From your base in Reykjavik enjoy some fantastic day excursions in Winter. Start with a city sightseeing tour of Reykjavik's diverse and compact capital. Then, your Golden Circle tour includes Iceland’s 3 premier sights - Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir geothermal area. Also included is a special glacial truck excursion, which takes you onto Langjökull glacier before your walk inside an ice cave.

Day 1 Reykjavik Arrival
Arrival Reykjavik and transfer to your hotel. Time at leisure.

The city centre is a small area characterised by eclectic and colourful houses, good shopping and dining. Reykjavík has recently established itself as a haven for food lovers, with numerous restaurants taking advantage of the abundance of local seafood, meat and game.

Reykjavik has many wonderful museums including the National Museum displaying artefacts from the first settlement to the modern age, giving an excellent overview of Iceland’s history and culture, the Reykjavik 871+2 Settlement Museum, an archaeological museum based around a 10th-century Viking longhouse unearthed in 2001, the Reykjavik Art Museum and the National Gallery.

Day 2 City Sightseeing – approx. 2.5-3 hours
The city tour includes Reykjavik‘s top attractions, with some interesting facts and stories about history and culture in Iceland. Remainder of the day at leisure.

Tonight, perhaps take an optional tour and search for the Northern Lights by boat or bus.

Day 3 Golden Circle – 6 hours
Your morning tour visits some of Iceland’s most iconic landmarks such as the UNESCO World Heritage Site of  Þingvellir National Park, where parliament was first founded around the year 930. It is also here that the movement of two tectonic plates has also created some spectacular scenery with enormous rifts slicing through the landscape. Then, onewards to the two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall before Geysir thermal area, with its erupting hot springs and bubbling mud pools.

Day 4 Inside the Glacier – approx. 10-11 hours
From Reykjavik, we drive through beautiful and historic Hvalfjörður (Whale fjord), en-route to Deildartunguhuver, the highest-flow hot spring in Europe. Just a short distance from here are two waterfalls - Hraunfossar, a series of waterfalls that literally flow from underneath the lava field and Barnafoss, with its powerful vortex of tumbling water. A short drive then takes us to Langjökull glacier where you will change vehicles and travel in a special glacier truck, up to the man made cav for an unprecedented look into the inner workings of a glacier. Journey from the cave's opening, deep into the glacier. Here the ice is older and more compressed, and it starts to change into another colour; blue. On the way, see a great example of a glacial fissure, running right through the cave, and cross it via a special bridge. Tour does not operate on 24 and 25 Dec.
