Discover the fabulous medieval Scandinavian capitals of Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo, travelling between cities by train, then explore the fascinating and breathtaking fjords of Norway. Plus relax with a night onboard the famous coastal ferry “Hurtigruten” from Bergen to stunning Geiranger – one of the the world’s most beautiful voyages - before returning by train through the mountains to Oslo. This tour is the essence of the North - Scandinavia in a nutshell!

Day 1 Copenhagen Arrival
Arrive in Copenhagen and make your own way to your hotel. Copenhagen is one of the best small cities in the world. With a history that dates back to 1043, the city is full of cultural landmarks, beautiful and significant buildings, charming waterways, interesting sights and museums. Walk down the shopping street Strøget, visit the Nyhavn area of lively bars and restaurants and sample some of the famous new Nordic Cuisine! 2 nights in Copenhagen.

Day 2 Copenhagen Sightseeing
This morning enjoy a guided tour of the city which includes the Nyhavn Wharf, the Little Mermaid, the Royal Palace Amalienborg and beautiful Rosenborg Castle (including entrance to the castle). The afternoon is free to explore on your own - visit Hans Christian Andersen’s statue, or in the evening the famous Tivoli Gardens.

Day 3 Copenhagen - Stockholm By Train
Today make your own way to the station and take the train from Copenhagen, through the green meadows and forests of southern Sweden. On arrival in Stockholm, make your own way to your hotel and check in, then enjoy a guided city tour, including the old town Gamla Stan, the cathedral, the royal castle and the Vasa Ship museum (including entrance to the museum). Stockholm – the beauty on the water – is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful capitals in the world, built on 14 islands and protected from the sea by Skargarden, the Stockholm archipelago. Overnight in Stockholm.

Day 4 Stockholm – Oslo By Train
This morning make your own way to the station and take the train from Stockholm, along the shores of Lake Mälaren to Oslo. On arrival in Oslo, make your own way to your hotel and check in, then enjoy a guided tour of the city, including the Vigeland Sculpture Park, the royal castle and the Fram Musuem, which tells the story of polar exploration and the Polar Ship M/S Fram (including entrance to the museum). The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Overnight in Oslo.

Day 5 Oslo - Myrdal - Flam - Bergen
In the morning, make your own way to the station and take the train from Oslo to Bergen, on a spectacular train journey that offers a panoramic view of some of the most magnificent landscapes of Norway to Myrdal. Upon arrival at the mountain station of Myrdal, change trains and travel on the famous Flåm Railway, one of the steepest train lines in the world, down to Flam. From Flåm, continue by ferry through the Nærøyfjord to Gudvangen. Here, board a coach for the short coach ride to Voss, followed by a final train ride to Bergen. On arrrival in Bergen, make your own way to your hotel. Overnight in Bergen.

Day 6 Bergen – Ålesund onboard Hurtigruten Coastal Ferry
This morning, enjoy a guided tour of the beautiful Hanseatic town of Bergen, including the fish market, the old Hanseatic warehouses, the cathedral and many charming wooden houses. The tour concludes with tickets to enjoy a ride on the funicular to Mt Fløyen, for a panoramic view of the city.

Then early this evening make your own way to the ferry wharf to board the Hurtigruten vessel, for your cruise along the Norwegian coastline.  The ferrry departs at approximately 20:00hrs. Sail north from Bergen along the Hjeltefjord, the same route the Vikings once sailed to the Shetland Islands and beyond. Spend the rest of the evening relaxing as you take in the spectacular landscapes, either from deck or in one of the panorama lounges. Overnight on board in an outside cabin, including breakfast and buffet dinner.

Day 7 Ålesund – Geiranger onboard Hurtigruten Coastal Ferry
Today relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery as the voyage continues - if you wake up early, you have the chance to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Nordfjord. The ferry sails past the West Cape, then ventures into open sea, before navigating through skerries and islands, to reach reaching Ålesund. From Ålesund continue into the majestic Geirangerfjord, a magnificent fjord surrounded by steep mountains and roaring waterfalls. Disembark from the ferry by tender and take an excursion to the top of the Dalsnibba mountain, to enjoy the breathtaking, panoramic views. The excursion concludes with drop off at your hotel in Geiranger for overnight.

Day 8 Geiranger – Ålesund
The morning is yours at leisure in Geiranger. At around noon make your own way back to the ferry wharf, to board today's ferry, which will take you back to Ålesund. On arrival in Ålesund, disembark and make your own way to your hotel for overnight.

Day 9 Ålesund - Åndalsnes - Dombås - Oslo
This morning enjoy a guided city walk in the charming "Art Nouveau" town of Ålesund. Then you will be transferrred to the train station, to take the train to  Åndalsnes, a spectacular ride along the Rauma valley and its steep mountains towards Dombås. Change trains at Dombås and continue through the idyllic Gudbrandsdal valley and along Lake Mjøsa towards Oslo. On arrival in Oslo, make your way to your hotel. Overnight in Oslo.

Day 10 Depart Oslo
Arrangements end after breakfast.
