Explore the cultural highlights of this fantastic medieval Baltic city. Kilometres of winding cobblestone streets, red roofs, watchtowers in the Old City walls that surrounds the Old Town, a whole storybook of medieval houses – that is Tallinn, one of the oldest cities of Northern Europe. This rich medieval town was forgotten for 50 years in Soviet times and this has meant the city is extremely well preserved, offering a true experience of the spirit of medieval times.  Don’t miss Tallinn’s famous Gothic Town Hall and the lively Town Hall square, the heart of the Old City with outdoor cafés, shops and never-ending activity. Wandering on the original medieval street network, discover hidden courtyards, churches, Hanseatic period guilds and citizen’s houses.

Your tour arrangements include private arrival and departure transfers, 3 nights accommodation, privately guided city sightseeing and another privately guided excursion of your choice.

Day 1 Tallinn Arrival
Arrive in Tallinn and transfer to your hotel. Check in then start exploring the city! This evening enjoy a 3 course medieval dinner at Restaurant Peppersack, in an historic house in the centre of the Old Town, just near the Old Town Hall.

Day 2 Tallinn City Sightseeing including the Old Town
Tallinn is an impressive medieval city with a charming old town centre. This morning enjoy a privately guided city tour which includes a walking tour of the old quarter, taking you to Toompea Castle, the Dome Church, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the medieval Old Town Hall & the Great Guild Hall.

The afternoon is free to wander the town centre’s many shops, galleries, souvenir markets, outdoor cafés & restaurants. From to late November to early January each year, wander through the beautiful and extraordinary Christmas Markets for unique festive gifts.

Day 3 Tallinn Kadriog Palace and Park & KUMU OR Estonian Open Air Museum
Today choose between 2 great privately guided excursions:

Kadriorg Palace & KUMU.   Visit the award-winning Estonian art museum KUMU, with its collections of classic & contemporary fine art, and see a variety of Estonian and foreign art, as well as the great modern Kumu building with its sharp angles and sleek façades. Also explore the 18th century Kadriog Palace with its Baroque flower garden, Swan Pond and parks, with the beautiful  summer House, Kitchen House and Guard House surrounding the palace.

OR  the fantastic Estonian Open Air Museum - just 15 minutes from the city centre of Tallinn is the Estonian Open Air Museum, showcasing the country's rural architecture and way of life. The 12 farms in the museum provide an overview of how families from different strata of society lived in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. As in any proper village, here there is a church, a tavern, a school house, mills, a fire station, a shop and fishing sheds by the sea. You can buy handicrafts, ride horses and try traditional Estonian dishes at the tavern.

The remainder of the day continue to explore on your own.
