Upon arrival, self-transfer to your hotel, check in then time at leisure.Copenhagen, the capital city of the kingdom of Denmark since 1417, is one of Europe's most ancient capitals, with a royal touch - the monarchy in Denmark is the oldest in the world.  Copenhagen is a place where old fairytales blend with innovative new architecture and world class design. It is also considered one of the world's most environmentally friendly cities and one of the best places to cycle. Most of the city's attractions can be reached on foot or bike, offering the opportunity to experience a lot of things in a short time.

Day 2  Copenhagen City Sightseeing
With a choice between two great tours today, there is something for everyone to enjoy:

A 3 hour combination sightseeing tour by coach and canal boat. Pass many of the city’s statues and landmarks such as the Tivoli Gardens, Christiansborg Palace and the Round Tower. Arrive at the Little Mermaid for a photo stop, before reaching the Royal Residence of Amalienborg Palace and the Changing of the Guards Ceremony. Then board your vessel for a canal tour around the harbour and idyllic waterways, past beautiful churches, castles, listed houses and modern architecture, including the Opera House,  Black Diamond, old Stock Exchange, Our Saviour’s Church and more.

Or take the 4 hour Copenhagen Food Tour, centered mainly around the New Market halls. Hearing stories about the recent rise of Nordic cuisine and indulging in some Danish gastronomic delights is an ideal way to enjoy time in this wonderful city!  Tastings include organic cheeses, apple wine, a Bornholmer plate (mustard, crackers, juice, various lollies), smoked ham or beef, craft beer/juice, bonbons, chocolate treats (flødebolle) and seasonal spices and herbs. (Please note this tour does not operate on Sundays)

Today’s 6.5 hour guided tour visits the fabulous Frederiksborg and Kronborg Castles, with a photo stop along the way at Fredensborg Castle. This is a great way to see the countryside to the north of the city as you travel through the Danish Riviera, with views across the Øresund Strait to the coast of Sweden. The first stop is Hillerød and magnificent Frederiksborg Castle, including the Chapel of Orders, Knight’s Hall and the National History Museum’s Royal Art Collection. Continue to the Royal summer residence, Fredensborg Castle, for a brief photo stop. Our next stop is at Helsingør (Elsinore) to visit impressive Kronborg Castle, the setting for Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
