Geirangerfjord is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage register and is one of the loveliest fjords in Norway. This independent tour combines an overnight cruise to Gierangerfjord with a visit to Alesund, the charming “Art Nouveau” capital of Norway, the famous 'Norway in a Nutshell' Flam Railway journey, as well as time in Oslo and Bergen.

Day 1 Oslo Arrival
On arrival, make your own way to your hotel. Enjoy some of Oslo's fine museums including the Viking Ship Museum, Fram Polar Expedition Museum and the Kon Tiki Museum, or take a stroll through the old wharf area of Bryggen, now bustling with bars and cafes. Visit the Munch Museum, Maritime Museum and Akershus Fortress. Overnight in Oslo at Thon Opera Hotel or similar.

Day 2 Oslo - Bergen 'Norway in a Nutshell'
Early morning departure on the train to Myrdal. Change trains at Myrdal to board the famous 'Flåmsbanen' train from Myrdal to Flåm. The Flåm Railway journey provides some of Norway's wildest and most magnificent scenery. On the 20km long train ride you can see rivers that cut through deep ravines, waterfalls cascading down the side of steep, snow-capped mountains and mountain farms clinging dizzily to sheer slopes.

Arrive in Flåm and spend a little here before travelling onwards. Go for a walk, visit a cafe, explore the Railway Museum or simply enjoy the breathtaking views. Then take the ferry from Flåm, through the Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord to Gudvangen. 17km long Nærøyfjord is one of the most spectacularly, impressive fjords in the world. Appearing very narrow and constricted, it is surrounded by mountains reaching straight up to 1700m on both sides and is no more than 300m across at the narrowest point. It is also on UNESCO's World Heritage List.

(Or you can add a night in Flam and continue on to Gudvangen, Voss and Bergen tomorrow - please enquire)

On arrival in Gudvangen, board the bus to Voss and travel up the ingenious twisted road of Stalheim Canyon to Voss, where you board the train for Bergen. This lively city, beautifully situated on the fjord, is surrounded by 7 mountains and has a long history as a Hanseatic trading port. Walk along Bryygen, the historic wharf area with timbered houses, formerly the homes and warehouses of wealthy merchants, explore the Fish and Flower markets and enjoy a meal in one of the many cafes or restaurants of this lovely town. And make sure you take the funicular ride up to Mt Fløien for a panoramic view of Bergen and its surroundings. Overnight in Bergen at Hotel Augustin or similar.

Day 3 Bergen: Onboard Hurtigruten
Day at leisure exploring the sights of the city before making your own way to the wharf where the Hurtigruten Coastal Ferry awaits. Depart in the late afternoon and cruise through beautiful coastal scenery towards Alesund. Overnight on board in outside cabin including breakast.
