Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavik

On arrival in Reykjavik transfer by airport express bus to your hotel. The city centre is a small area characterised by eclectic and colourful houses, good shopping, dining and drinking. Reykjavík has recently established itself as a haven for food lovers, with numerous restaurants taking advantage of the abundance of local seafood, meat and game. Reykjavik has many wonderful museums including the National Museum displaying artefacts from the first settlement to the modern age, giving an excellent overview of Iceland’s history and culture, the Reykjavik 871+2 Settlement Museum, an archeological museum based around a 10th-century Viking longhouse unearthed in 2001, the Reykjavik Art Museum and the National Gallery. Overnight in Reykjavik.

Day 2: Reykjavik - Hofn

In the early morning, transfer on your own to Reykjavik Domestic Airport and take the flight to Hofn on the Southeast coast of Iceland (flight times vary, depending on flight season and availability). The flight duration is approximately one hour. On arrival at the airport in Hofn you will pick up your car and drive on your own to Hofn village. Once you have checked in, you can take a scenic walk on your own through the village and down to the harbor, where you might see fishermen land their catch of the day. You might also consider booking optional guided tours for northern lights hunting. Overnight in Hofn.

Day 3: Explore Hofn and Surroundings

Today is yours at leisure.

Hofn's proximity to Vatnajokull Glacier provides great opportunity to experience glacial wonders in the region. We recommend taking an optional tour to Jokulsarlon, the Glacier Lagoon, where you might see seals swimming between the huge floating icebergs. Other opportunities might include glacier walking in Skaftafell, a glacier-ringed nature preserve in Vatnajokull National Park and visiting the new Thorbergur Cultural Centre near the Glacial Lagoon, honoring a favorite Icelandic author. In the evening check out optional guided tours hunting the northern lights. Overnight in Hofn.

Day 4: Morning at leisure then return to Reykjavik

Spend the morning relaxing then in the afternoon, transfer to Hofn Airport for the flight back to Reykjavik and on arrival, make your own way to your hotel. Overnight in Reykjavik.
