This fabulous longer holiday combines some great winter fun activities, including snowmobiling through a fir tree forest, dog-sledding into the snowy wilderness, visiting a reindeer farm with a sleigh ride, seeing the animals at Ranua Arctic Zoo and learning about local Sami culture. Evenings are spent relaxing in the hotel with its sauna and pool, making it easy to search for the famous Northern Lights - all you have to do is step outside and look up! Your tour arrangements include accommodation, use of outer winter clothing, airport transfers and guided excursions from Rovaniemi.

Day 1 Arrival in Rovaniemi
Arrival transfer from the Rovaniemi Airport to your hotel, with a stop at the safari office so you can be fitted with the outer winter wear (overalls, boots, hat, gloves) for use during your stay. Check in at the hotel and get the fine details and timing for your fabulous activities. Remainder of the day free to explore or relax.

Day 2: Snowmobile Safari
Start the week with an unforgettable snowmobile safari in the wilds. After an introduction to the snowmobiles, and a driving and safety briefing, start your engines! Travel on new, ecologic and silent snowmobiles, through beautiful winter scenery, with breath taking views of the natural landscapes. On the way, stop for a light barbeque lunch and warm drinks by an open fire. 2 persons share the driving of each snowmobile.

Day 3: Ranua Arctic Zoo
Visit the amazing animals living at the Ranua Arctic Zoo and Wildlife Park! You will see owls, wolf, lynx, bear, wolverine and many more, plus the resident polar bears.  After exploring the large park perhaps have a warming tasting at the berry wine shop,  then enjoy a light lunch.

Day 4: Snowshoeing & Ice Fishing and Evening Northern Lights Walk.
Today experience walking on both snow and ice! Using snowshoes, one of the oldest forms of winter transport, walk through the snowy landscpes to the lake. Here we make holes in the ice with a special ice drill, then fish through them, whilst admiring the winter beauty of Lapland. A light lunch is served by an open fire. Return to the hotel to relax before the Northern Lights evening walk. This is a lovely and quiet way to admire this fantastic, natural light show, should it appear, and learn about traditional Finnish shamanism. A BBQ dinner is included.

Day 5: Reindeer Farm Visit and Sleigh Ride and Ice Restaurant.
Today visit a local reindeer farm, to meet the eindeer herders, still farming essentially in the same way their forbears have done for centuries. Meet both wild and safari reindeer, learn about the traditions of reindeer farming,  feed the reindeer, then enjoy a sleigh ride. Reindeer drivers licences are awarded! After a light lunch, we continue on to visit a unique ice restaurant, made anew each year from snow and ice, where you can warm up with a hot drink in the ice bar. (Please note the Ice Restaurant visit is only offered from December to March).

Day 6: Husky Safari
Today enjoy a visit to a local husky farm, and drive a team of huskies. After meeting the dogs, and a driving lesson and safety briefing, head into the snowy surroundings! 2 persons share the driving of each sled on the   2 hour sled ride, so you can take turns being the musher! A light lunch by an open fire is served during the day .

Day 7: Day at leisure
Today you can try some great optional excursions - take a cruise on Sampo icebreaker (a real adventure) and swim in the frozen Northern Sea in special floatation suits; visit Kemi Snow Castle, or visit Santa Claus Village to see the man himself. Please enquire.
