UNESCO listed Ilulissat is the perfect destination for viewing icebergs, with breathtaking views over the Inland Ice Cap and fjords, as your flight arrives in to land. Witness the majestic beauty of Greenlandic nature and enjoy winter activities such as dog-sledding, cruising on the Fjord to see gigantic icebergs, enjoying the northern lights on a clear night and much more. These are just a few of the unique winter experiences that await you in Ilulissat. Your tour arrangements include return flights, accommodation, airport transfers in Greenland and guided excursions from Ilulissat.

This tour departs from either Reykjavik or Copenhagen and is available as either a 4 or 5 day tour. The itinerary shown below is for the 5 day tour from Copenhagen or Reykjavik. Notes for the 4 day tour follow.

Day 1 Copenhagen or Reykjavík – Ilulissat
Flight from Copenhagen via Kangerlussuaq and on to Ilulissat. Or, if you are coming from Iceland, flight from Reykjavik to Ilulissat. On arrival, transfer to your hotel, then check-in & meet your guide for information about the programme for the coming days. Then enjoy a guided walk around the town-  visit the old part of the town to see the original buildings dating from the early settlement of this former Danish trading station, the busy fishing harbour, the old Zion Church & the museum. Accommodation at Hotel Arctic.

Day 2 Ilulissat: Icebergs of Sermermiut
This morning you will be picked up and driven as far as the road goes - from here start an unforgettable easy hike to the UNESCO designated Ilulissat Ice Fjord and Sermemiut Valley, where traces from the three old Inuit cultures can be seen.Light refreshments are included and the tour duration is from 2-3 hours.

Day 3 Glimpse of Local Life and Evening Northern Lights Hunt by Snowmobile
Today get a glimpse of traditional Greenlandic life, visiting one of the hunters settlements at Ilimanaq or Rodebay on a 6 hour excursion by boat. These small settlements are only accessible by boat or dog sled and are entirely dependent on fishing and hunting - a different world compared to that of nearby Ilulissat. Take a guided tour of the settlement and enjoy lunch with a local family, before returning to Ilulissat.

This evening enjoy a fabulous 2hr search for the Northern Lights by Snowmobile. This is a real Arctic experience - watch the Arctic sunset and enjoy breathtaking views, driving across icy ground, into the wilderness. No previous experience is required and you are accompanied at all times by an experienced guide. Light refreshments are included.

Day 4  Optional Excursions or day at leisure
Today you can just realx or you could select one of the fabulous optional excursions available: 2.5 hour Cruise to the Icefjord; 2 or 4 hour dog sled safaris, or 2hr Northern Lights snow shoe walk. Please enquire.

Day 5 Ilulissat - Kangerlussuaq - Copenhagen or Ilulissat - Reykjavík
Transfer to the airport for your return flight. If you are returning to Copenhagen, your flight goes via Kangerlussuaq.

5 days from Copenhagen: Mondays,Thursdays & Fridays early November 2107-late March  2018 (except during Christmas, New Year and Easter periods)

5 day tour from Reykjavik: Tuesdays from mid February - late March 2018 (except during the Easter period)

4 day tour from Reykjavik: Saturdays from mid February - late March 2018 (except during the Easter period)

The 4 day/3 night tour does not include the day for optional excursions.

For the included excursions you are accompanied by a local, English-speaking guide.  Some of the excursions can only be operated when there is sufficient open water, depending on the amount of open water left as winter progresses or when there is sufficient snow. The order of the excursions may be changed. T price is based upon a certain class on flights to and from Greenland- if this class has sold out, the final price may increase, depending on the availability and cost of other classes at the time of booking.
