This great, short tour gives you a chance to see the Northern Lights on some great guided evening excursions - on snowshoe and on snowmobiles. During the daytime you can spend time getting to know the huskies and reindeers and enjoy winter above the Arctic Circle! On your last night you can stay at the hotel, or you can  stay in a Snow Igloo, or try "Glamping" (comfortable camping in an Aurora Dome, with a fireplace, cosy sitting area and clear sided panels facing north).

Day 1 Arrival Kittila
Upon arrival into Kittilä airport transfer to your hotel in Harriniva. On arrival you will be fitted with the warm, outer thermal clothing for use during your stay. Remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 2 Meet the Reindeer and Snowmobile to wilderness
Today visit a local reindeer herder and his reindeer to learn about the life of the this ancient Arctic beast and its importance in Lapp culture. The reindeer herders will show you how to throw a Lappish lasso, followed by a short sleigh ride.  Lunch is served in a small Lappish kota or traditional tent, aroudna cosy camp fire.  In the afternoon, meet in the kota to help cook Finnish pancakes, and talk to your hosts about the coming days adventures.  After dinner we head out on our first evening excursion, seeking the wondrous ‘Aurora Borealis’  on snowmobiles. The approximately 20km tour takes you to the top of a nearby fell, where you will enjoy some warm drinks and almost feel how the sky is closer and the stars brighter! 2 persons share each snowmobile.

Day 3 Meet  the Huskies, Slip on the Snowshoes & Unique Overnight Accommodation
After breakfast meet with some happy huskies - there are over 400 husky dogs at the farm. Meet the delightful puppies, and after a guided tour of the farm and driving and safety instructions, start the safari. The driving distance is about 17 km and 2 persons share each sled. After the safari, lunch is served in the hotel. The afternoon is free to explore the local area or relax. After dinner, strap on up some snowshoes and head out with your guide in search once more for the northern lights. After finding the best spot with a view to the north relax, enjoying some warm drinks before returning to the hotel.

Tonight you can either stay at the hotel or you can choose from one of these wonderful overnight alternatives:

Option 1: Snow Igloo (Overnight)
After dinner transfer to the  Winter Village where you will spend a night in a Snow Igloo. Igloos have been used in the Northern countries for accommodation for many centuries.  Transfers, sleeping bags, hot drinks and breakfast are all included. After breakfast return to Harriniva for transfer to the airport.

Option 2: Aurora Glamping (Overnight)
Try "glamping" or glamour camping under the northern lights! The Aurora Dome is a luxury tent, a very comfortable way to spend a night in the wilderness. The tent has a cozy bed and a fireplace, and see through side walls so you can gaze towards the northern sky with a view over the Torasjärvi Lake. The scenery to the untouched Lappish wilderness is breathtaking even on cloudy nights!  Sauna, toilet and shower facilities are located nearby (50 metres away).  Transfers, private Aurora Dome and breakfast included.
