Stay in a log cabin and a Glass or Snow Igloo, at Kakslauttanen, Northern Finland, located in the remote and beautiful Saariselka fell area of Urho Kekkonen National Park. There are many different activities on offer, with something for everyone to enjoy. At night, you may even see the Aurora Borealis as it lights up the night sky.

Day 1 Ivalo – Kakslauttanen
Transfer from Ivalo airport to the Hotel & Igloo Village, for two nights in a log cabin with private facilities, kitchenette, fireplace & sauna, and one night in a Glass or Snow Igloo. 

Day 2  Husky Safari
After an introduction and safety briefing, start out on a 4 hour guided, dog-sledding safari. Experience the wonders of winter nature as you travel over snowy tracks & through forests. Lunch is served before returning to the village. Remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 3  Reindeer Safari and Farm Visit & Overnight Glass or Snow Igloo
Transfer to a local reindeer farm for a 4hr safari, including an exciting sleigh ride. Learn of the Sami peoples’ traditions & ways of life, before lunch is served in a herdsman’s hut. Return to the village, where there is also an Ice Gallery, Ice Bar and Ice Chapel. Overnight in a Snow Igloo (from January to March only) or a  Glass Igloo- a truly different experience! 

Snow Igloos: ice lights illuminate the igloo; thermal sleeping bag, wool socks, and a hood are provided. Inside temperature is minus 3 to minus 6°C. Please note there is no electricity or water in the Snow Igloo and bathroom and luggage facilites are in a nearby building. Children under 8 years are not permitted to stay in the Snow Igloo and the igloos are not constructed each year until late December.

Glass Igloos: as you lay in comfort and gaze up through the glass roof, you might you see the amazing Aurora Borealis. Room temperature inside. Each igloo has a small bathroom.

Day 4  Kakslauttanen – Ivalo
Enjoy a morning sauna, before transferring to Ivalo Airport. If you have a flight later today, there may be time for an optional activity, before your hotel-airport transfer.

For the included excursions you are accompanied by a local, English-speaking guide.

Tour Notes: The excursions operate with a minimum of 2 persons - if you are a solo traveller and there is no second person booked on an excursion, you may be required to pay additional fees in order for the excursion to proceed. Please note the order of the excursions may alter according to the day of the week your arrangements start.

Snowmobile Safaris: To drive a snowmobile you must have a valid driving license and be 18 years of age or over. All single travellers must drive their own snowmobile solo. Children over 130cm in height may sit as a passenger behind an adult driver on a snowmobile only if the child is paying the adult price. Children under 130 cm in height sit in a sled pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Children under 2 are not permitted on snowmobile safaris. Please note in the event of extreme weather or poor trail conditions small children may not be allowed to participate in safaris.

Husky Safaris: To drive a husky sled you must weigh at least 50kg. Children under 18 years usually travel in one big sled driven by the guide. During the shorter safaris a maximum of 2 adults + 2 children may be permitted to share one sled driven by the adults. During the longer safaris 2 adults usually drive each sled in pairs and all children sit together in one big sled driven by the guide. The guide has the discretion to decide who may or may sit in a sled driven by adults and who must sit in the guide’s sled for all safaris. Children under 2 are not permitted on husky safaris. Please note in the event of extreme weather or poor trail conditions small children may not be allowed to participate in safaris

Snow Igloos are built each year from snow and ice and are therefore only available from January to March, cold weather permitting! Children under 9 years are not permitted to stay in a Snow Igloo. The order of the day of your stay in an Igloo may alter depending on your dates of travel.
