Day 1: 30 December 2016 St Petersburg Arrival
Arrival in St. Petersburg, and transfer to the 4 star Hotel Ambassador or similar, then check-in. Time at leisure. Tonight you can enjoy an optional welcome dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: 31 December St Petersburg City Sightseeing, Hermitage Art Museum & New Year Gala Dinner
St. Petersburg is an amazing city. Its imperial palaces and museums enjoy worldwide fame, while the Neva River and the many canals have deservedly given the city the title “The Venice of the North”. When the city is covered in snow it has a special romantic atmosphere. During your 3 hour morning sightseeing, tour get acquainted with all the splendours of the city: the Winter Palace, St. Isaac’s Cathedral, the Church of the Bleeding Saviour, the Nevsky Convent and much more.
The afternoon offers a fantastic visit to the world-famous Hermitage Art Museum, filled with many treasures, then in the evening enjoy a fabulous Russian New Year Gala at the hotel, to welcome 2017 in style.
Day 3: 01 January 2017 St Petersburg: Kazan Cathedral and Peter & Paul Fortress
This morning visit the Orthodox Kazan Cathedral and observe the traditional sung mass, then visit the Peter-and-Paul Fortress to see the Peter-and-Paul Cathedral, the pantheon of the Russian Czars from Peter the Great to Nicolas the 2nd.
In the afternoon enjoy free time to explore this fascinating winter city further. Tonight an optional guided shopping tour on Nevsky Prospoect is offered- find some special Russian Christmas gifts, or unqiue gifts such as beautiful amber.
Day 4: 02 January St Petersburg: Catherine's Palace & Amber Room and Pavlovsk Palace
In the morning enjoy a tour to Zarskoye Selo with the impressive Catherine's Palace and the magnificent Amber Room. In the afternoon continue on to the nearby Pavlovsk Palace, an ensemble of palace and parks, and the former summer palace of the Russian emperor Paul 1 and his family. Here you can enjoy a real Russian winter experience - a troika or horse drawn sleigh ride.
On this your last night enjoy a farewell dinner at Restaurant Russian Kitsch.
Day 5 03 January 2017 Departure
Transfer to the airport from your hotel.
A Locally Guided Tour is one where you are accompanied by a local English speaking guide whilst you are on an included excursion. For the remainder of the tour time you are unescorted.
*this tour can be extended with further time in St Petersburg or with a visit to Moscow
