This tour offers you the chance to see 2 unique destinations in winter - Iceland and Greenland. Start from Reykjavik where you will enjoy a guided tour of the fabulous Golden Circle including Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area and the amazing waterfall Gullfoss. Continue on to UNESCO listed, Ilulissat in Greenland. This town is the perfect destination for viewing icebergs, with breathtaking views over the Inland Ice Cap and fjords as you fly in. Witness the majestic beauty of Greenlandic nature and enjoy winter activities such as dog-sledding with an Inuit hunter, a cruise on the Fjord to see gigantic icebergs, enjoying the Northern Lights on a clear night and much more. Then return to Reykjavik for one further night.

This tour is available as either a 7 or 8 day tour. The itinerary shown below is for the 7 day tour.

Day 1 Reykjavik Arrrival
On arrival at Keflavik International Airport transfer to your hotel with the airport express bus.

Time at leisure to explore. The city centre is a small area characterised by eclectic and colourful houses, good shopping, dining and drinking. Reykjavík has recently established itself as a haven for food lovers, with numerous restaurants taking advantage of the abundance of local seafood, meat and game.

Reykjavik has many wonderful museums including the National Museum displaying artefacts from the first settlement to the modern age, giving an excellent overview of Iceland’s history and culture, the Reykjavik 871+2 Settlement Museum, an archaeological museum based around a 10th-century Viking longhouse unearthed in 2001, the Reykjavik Art Museum and the National Gallery. Overnight in Reykjavik at Hotel Plaza or similar.

Day 2: Golden Circle  
Today we visit the most famous natural attractions in Iceland: Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area and the amazing waterfall Gullfoss, collectively known as the "Golden Circle". Tonight enjoy a traditional Icelandic Fish Buffet dinner at Resturant Reykjavik.

Day 3: Reykjavik -  Ilulissat
Breakfast at your hotel. Then transfer to the Reykjavik Domestic Airport for your Air Iceland morning flight to Ilulissat. On arrival, meet your guide and transfer to the hotel for an information meeting followed by a guided city walk. Visit the old part of the town to see the original buildings dating from the early settlement of this former Danish trading station, the busy fishing harbour, the old Zion Church & the museum. Overnight at Hotel Arctic.

Days 4 & 5 Ilulissat.
Today and tomorrow enjoy some of the wonderful optional excursions that can only be done in Ilulissat. Experience ice and snow, meet the locals and gaze in awe at the magnficient scenery.

These great optional excursions are:

* Northern Lights Search by snowshoe or by snowmobile

* Cruise to the Icefjord (depending on the amount of open water left as winter progresses),

* visits to the Hunters Settlements at Ilimanaq or Rodebay for a glimpse into traditional Greenlandic life

* Dog Sled Safari.

* snow shoe walk for the best views of the icebergs

On Day 5 enjoy a Farewell to Greenland dinner at the hotel.

Day 6: Ilulissat - Reykjavik
Morning at leisure before transfer to the airport around noon for your flight back to Iceland. On arrival at Reykjavik Domestic Airport, transfer to your hotel. Overnight at Hotel Plaza or similar.

Day 7 Farewell
The tour concludes with your transfer to Keflavik Airport.

* the 8 day tour has one extra day in Ilulissat
