This short escorted tour offers you one night in Helsinki, then takes you by train through the Finnish countryside across the Russian border, and on to St Petersburg, to experience the highlights of this wonderful city. All the fabulous excursions in the itinerary are included in the tour price. 

Day 1 Helsinki Arrival
Arrive at Helsinki Vantaa Airport and transfer to your hotel. Helsinki is truly located at the crossroads of Western and Eastern culture, and this is reflected everywhere in the green and lively Finnish capital. Perhaps explore the busy market place and the many stands including freshly cooked seafood stalls, in the harbour area. Tonight meet your tour escort and fellow travellers at 18:50 hrs in the hotel lobby, then enjoy dinner at the hotel. Accommodation at Hotel Haven or similar for 1 night.

Day 2 Helsinki - St Petersburg: River Cruise & St Isaac's Cathedral
Early breakfast, followed by coach transfer from the hotel to the railway station. Departure from Helsinki on the fast “Allegro” train, bound for St. Petersburg. Travel through the Finnish countryside and enjoy a boxed lunch on the train, before your arrival into St. Petersburg. Then transfer to the pier for a 1 hour guided cruise along the Neva River, together with a visit to the magnificent St. Isaac’s Cathedral. Check in, followed by a welcome dinner including a shot of vodka and a glass of wine. Accommodation at the Ambassador Hotel or similar for 3 nights.

Day 3 St Petersburg: Peterhof Palce and Hermitage Art Museum
The day begins with a transfer to the river, to take the hydrofoil to Peterhof, for a guided tour which includes the Grand Palace, and the lower parks with the glorious fountains. After returning to the city and lunch at a local restaurant, enjoy a guided tour of the world-famous Hermitage Art Museum and the State Rooms of the Winter Palace. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 4 St Petersburg: Panoramic City Sightseeing, Catherine's Palace,  Amber Room & Folklore Show
This morning transfer to the charming, wooded town of Pushkin, followed by a visit to Catherine’s Palace including the famous Amber room. After lunch at a local restaurant, enjoy a 3 hour panoramic tour of the city. St. Petersburg is a place of outstanding architectural beauty, famous for its magnificent palaces, cathedrals, fountains and bridges, and the tour includes sights as the Square of Arts, the Russian Museum, the Cathedral of Our Saviour on the Spilt Blood, Griboedov canal, Nevsky Prospect, the Palace Square with the Winter Palace, the spit of the Basil’s Island, the Menshikov Palace, the Senate Square, and the Bronze Horseman. A stop is also made at the Peter & Paul Fortress. This evening, be entertained by a colourful Russian folklore show at the Nikolaevsky Palace, with snacks during the intermission. Dinner at the Dostoevsky Restaurant or similar.

Day 5 St Petersburg Departure
Your arrangements end today with your transfer to St. Petersburg Airport.
