Explore the Baltics in your own way on this self drive tour, travelling from Vilnius to Kaunas, Klaipeda, Riga, Cesis, Tartu and then Tallinn. The tour can be done in reverse and extra nights added in Vilnius, Riga and/or Tallinn.

Day 1 Vilnius Arrival
Arrival in Vilnius, and pick up your rental car at the airport. Drive into the city and check-in at your hotel. Time at leisure.Vilnius has over 1,200 medieval buildings and 48 churches. Explore the Old Town, which has jewels including Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Tower, Peter and Paul Church, St. Anne’s Church, the Old University and the Gates of Dawn. Overnight in Vilnius.

Day 2 Vilnius - Kaunas (approx. 92km)
Today spend the morning in Vilnius, then in the afternoon head for Kaunas. On the way visit the lovely medieval former capital Trakai, with the well preserved Trakai Castle, beautifully located on an island in Lake Galve. On arival into Kaunas check into your hotel. Explore the Old Town,  with the Old Town Hall and Kaunas Cathedral, and visit the Pazaislis Cloister and the Devil’s Museum. Overnight in Kaunas.

Day 3 Kaunas – Klaipeda (approx. 207km)
Continue the trip to Klaipeda along the Nemunas River and enjoy the magnificent countryside of Lithuania. Visit the towns of Jubarkas and Silute, before arriving into Klaipeda, for check in at your hotel. 2 nights in Klaipeda.

Day 4 Klaipeda – Nida – Klaipeda: Curonian Spit (approx. 65km each way)
Today we suggest you take the small ferry from Klaipdea to Smiltyne and spend the whole day at the unique Curonian Spit, with its dunes and pine forests. Enjoy the tranquillity of the fishing villages of Juodkrante and Nida, visit Thomas Mann’s summerhouse, the Hill of Witches and the Aquarium. 2nd overnight in Klaipeda.

Day 5 Klaipeda – Palanga – Liepaja – Riga (approx. 299km)
Heading for Liepaja make a stop in Palanga to visit the Amber Museum in the former Tyszkevicz Palace. In Liepaja take a walk in the Old Town and after that head through Courland and visit the quaint towns of Kuldiga and Tukums, continue via the seaside resort of Jurmala to Riga, check-in at your hotel. 2 nights in Riga.

Day 6 Riga
Today explore Riga’s more than 800 years of history. The city, which was established in 1201 by the German Bishop Albert, is the largest of the three Baltic capitals and boasts a true kaleidoscope of various architectural styles. Visit the Old Town with Riga Castle, Dome Cathedral, St. Peter’s Church, and Three Brothers and don’t miss the New Town with the famous Art Nouveau districts. 2nd overnight in Riga.

Day 7 Riga – Sigulda – Cesis (approx. 91km)
Leaving Riga visit the Ethnographical Open Air Museum with its 18th century expositions. Continue to the resort town of Sigulda and the Gauja National Park; visit the ruins of the Castle of the German Order in Sigulda, the Gutman Cave and the Episcopal Castle in Turaida. Onwards through the park to Cesis, aand check-in at your hotel. Take a stroll in the Old Town and visit the medieval Cesis Castle and St. John’s Church. Overnight in Cesis.

Day 8 Cesis – Valmiera – Valga – Tartu (approx. 90km)
From Cesis continue through the Nnrth of Latvia via Valmiera to Valga. Entering Estonia go through the scenic Voru region and arrive in Tartu, known as the cultural capital of Estonia. Check-in at your hotel. Overnight in Tartu.

Day 9 Tartu – Tallinn (approx. 186km)
Start the day with a detour to the Town of Kallaste and drive along the banks of Lake Peipsi to Mustvee. Continue northbound to Rakvere and visit the Lahemaa National Park on the way to Tallinn, check-in at your hotel. 2 nights in Tallinn.

Day 10 Tallinn
Spend the day in Tallinn, the oldest medieval town in Northern Europe. Drive around the old medieval city walls and into the Old Town with Toompea Castle, Dome Cathedral, the Old Town Hall and the Niguliste Church. Use the rest of the day in the outskirts of Tallinn and visit the Kadriorg Park with Kadriorg Palace and its art collections and the Convent of St. Bridget. 2nd overnight in Tallinn.

Day 11 Tallinn Departure
Check out from your hotel and return the car to the airport.
