This short driving tour takes you from Helsinki to the delightful smaller towns of Porvoo, Turku, Naantali and Tuusula, so you can experience the quieter, more leisurely side of this region of Finland. Extra nights can be added at any of the towns along the way and in Helsinki.

Day 1 Arrival Helsinki
Arrival at Helsinki's Vantaa airport and pick-up your rental car. Drive to Helsinki, check in and time to explore the city. We recommend a visit to Senate Square, the Uspenskij Cathedral, Parliament House, Finlandia Hall, Sibelius Park & Monument and the Temppeliaukio church. Or visit Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, included on Unesco’s Word Heritage List - founded in 1748, the fortress is just 15 minutes by ferry from Helsinki Market Square. Overnight in Helsinki.

Day 2 Helsinki - Porvoo 55 km
Today drive to Porvoo, which is the second oldest town in Finland. The driving route follows part of the King’s Road, which was the most significant travel route in the Nordic countries, and was an old postal route. The road had been used by kings and their couriers, bishops and townsmen, artists and armies ever since the 1300s and mansions, farms, taverns, alehouses and inns that housed and accommodated travellers arose all along the road.  On the way to Porvoo, perhaps visit Haikko Manor, home of the famous painter Albert Edelfelt, and the old church of Sipoo, built in the 15th century. Arrive in Porvoo and walk through the Old Town, with its well-preserved wooden houses, medieval church, and the Town Hall Square. Overnight in Porvoo.

Day 3 Porvoo - Turku 215 km
Depart from Porvoo, and drive to the oldest town of Finland and it's former capital, Turku, located on the shores of the Aura River. This southwest area of Finland has the oldest cultural tradition of any region, is where the recorded history of Finland begins, and where the oldest traces of habitation have been found. The driving route to Turku contunes along the King’s Road, or you can take a deviation to Hanko, to visit Finland’s southernmost point. Then on to Turku, famous for it's active cultural scene, maritime atmosphere and for the beauty of the extensive archipelago region. Visit the Castle of Turku from the XIII century, the Luostarinmäki outdoor & crafts museum, and the Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova museum complex. Or visit Ruissalo Island and the Botanical Gardens of the University of Turku. Overnight in Turku.

Day 4 Turku - Naantali - Tuusula 200 km)
Today continue with the short drive to Naantali, known as Finland’s official summer holiday city because the summer residence of the President of Finland and many others are located here. The Moomin World theme park also makes Naantali a top spot for children and families. Walk in the Old town, see the mediaeval church and visit the gardens with 3,500 roses at the Kultaranta Estate. Later, drive to Tuusula, and the Krapi Estate, which comprises a hotel, restaurants, a chimneyless sauna and a large park area offering a wide variety of activities. Krapi is located right at the start of the first Finnish museum road (Tuusula Rantatie), where the homes of many famous artists of the turn of the century, who were actively involved in the forming of the Finnish national identity, can be found. Overnight in Tuusula.

Day 5: Tuusula - Helsinki (irport 5km
Enjoy the peace of the Krapi area or visit some of the many cultural sights and museums along the road Tuusulan Rantatie, before returning to Helsinki's Vantaa airport to drop off the rental car, and end of arrangements
