Day 1  Arrival and Walking Track to Trælanípan
Pick up your rental car at the airport. Drive to the village of Miðvágur, where the old walking track leads you out to Trælanípan. Visit the tourist office in Miðvágur maps and hints before going on the hike . Enjoy the undulation of the ocean and the voices of the birds filling the sky. The path goes along the largest fresh water lake in the Faroe Islands, Leitisvatn. See the waterfall Bøsdalafossur and the free standing cliff Geituskoradrangur.  Also visit the villages of Gásadalur and Bøur. 2 nights on Eysturoy.

Day 2  Gjogv and Bird Cliffs
The natural harbour in the village of Gjógv is an attraction every one should take time to see. If you walk along the edge of the crevice you might see some puffins coming out of their nests on their way out to the ocean to get food for their young. At the end of the crevice, facing the open ocean, it is possible to enjoy the view from Crown Princess Mary’s Bench. From Gjógv you can hike up the mountain to the beautiful valley of Ambadalur, en route you see bird cliffs and enjoy scenic views. For more information go to Hotel Gjáargarður before going on your hike. 2nd night in Eysturoy.

Day 3 Saksun, Sandoy and Suduroy
On route to Torshavn visit the picturesque villages of Tjornuvik and Saksun. Tjornuvik  is surrounded by steep mountains and offers a fantastic view of the impressive rock formations The Giant and the Witch. In Saksun the bay used to be a protected natural harbour, but today the entrance to the bay is blocked by sand. At low tide you can walk along this sand out to the ocean. From Tórshavn you take the ferry Smyril to the island of Suðuroy. En route you pass the islands of Sandoy, Stóra Dímun and Lítla Dímun. 2 nights in Suðuroy.

Day 4 Geology Tour and Beinisvoro
This morning enjoy a guided geology tour - on Suduroy, Faroese geology is very visible. With your local driver/guide see the amazing basalt columns, tufa and old coalmines. Enjoy lunch on route then the rest of the day is yours.

In the village of Sumba you find the mountain of Beinisvørð, which is one long grass slope which rises to a precipice and the falls straight in to the ocean. Walk the short distance to the top of Beinisvørð, where a grand panorama view opens up and in the most beautiful way reveals the essence of the Faroe Islands in one glance, with fjords and valleys, villages and mountains, birds and sheep, nature and man. On the northern part of the island lies the village of Sandvík, which is known in the Faroese Saga as the village where one of the greatest chieftains, Sigmundur Brestisson, was murdered on the beach after swimming from the island of Skúvoy trying to escape Tróndur í Gøtu. To experience the dramatic west side of the island you can, straight after the tunnel from the village of Hvalba, walk along the sheep path out to “Á Røðina”, which is highly recommended. 2nd night in Suðuroy

Day 5 Sudoroy - Torshavn Day at leisure
There are many great hiking paths in Suðuroy for example the top of Rávan and the award winning Hvannhagi. Visit the local tourist office in the village of Tvøroyri for more information about hiking. We recommend the beautiful hike to Hvannhagi. In the afternoon or in the evening you go back with the ferry to Tórshavn. See the art exhibition by Faroese artists onboard the ferry Smyril en route to Tórshavn. 3 nights in Tórshavn.

Day 6 Torshavn
In the morning perhaps wander through the old parts of Tórshavn, Tinganes and Reyn or take an optional private walking tour in Tórshavn.  Or you might like to take the ferry to the island of Sandoy or Nólsoy where there are good hiking paths or take an optional boat trip to the Vestmanna bird cliffs from the village of Vestmanna. 2nd night in Tórshavn.

Day 7 Going South
We recommend the hike over the mountain and back down to the cultural center of Kirkjubøur. The first part of the hike is uphill. On the top is a great view over Tórshavn and Nólsoy. Follow the cairns and you get to a stone lectern. Public meetings have been held in this place for the last 120 years with banners waving in the wind, patriotic speeches and nationalistic songs being written for the occasion. Continue south along the path and enjoy the majestic view over the islands of Sandoy, Hestur, Koltur, and Vágar. After arriving in Kirkjubøur it is possible to visit Roykstovan (combined museum and private home) which is approx. 900 years old. See the ruins of the Saint Magnus Cathedral and Ólavs’ church from year 1111. 3rd night in Tórshavn
