This tour takes you from Stockholm down to Malmo, Gothenburg and Kalmar for a fabulous exploration of the charming southern districts. Extra nights can be added at any overnight destination on the way.

Day 1 Stockholm Arrival 
Arrive at Stockholm Arlanda Airport; pick-up your rental car a and drive to your hotel. Accommodation at Hotell Kung Carl or similar for 2 nights.

Day 2 Stockholm Day at Leisure
Breakfast then day free to enjoy the Swedish capital. Maybe take a canal cruise or visit the Vasa Museum. The impressive warship Vasa sank on her maiden voyage in 1628 but was salvaged 333 years later in 1961. She has since been restored and can now be seen with her complete rigging at the Vasa Museum. Also  visit the famous old town, Gamla Stan, to stroll the delightful historic streets and wander past the unique shops, cafes and bars, or visit one of the many other great museums. Accommodation at Hotell Kung Carl or similar.

Day 3 Stockholm - Jönköping 325km
Breakfast then depart Stockholm and drive through southern Sweden’s pleasant countryside, towards the city of Jönköping, beautifully situated at the southern end of Lake Vättern. If time permits you could take a cruise on the lake. Accommodation at Clarion Collection Hotel Victoria or similar. 

Day 4 Jönköping - Gothenburg 146km
Continue to Gothenburg, the 2nd city of Sweden. There are many attractions in Gothenburg including Liseberg, the greatest amusement park in Scandinavia,  boat cruises to the 17th century New Älvsborg Fortress,  the floating maritime experience centre Maritiman with an armada of 19 museum vessels where you can see and learn about U-boats, destroyers, mine-layers and fireboats, the Universeum, where you can experience the Ocean, Rain Forest and Space and many other museums, as well as cafes and great shopping. Accommodation at Clarion Hotel Post or similar.

Day 5 Gothenburg - Malmo 270km
Before leaving Gothenburg, perhaps visit Gunnebo House. One of Sweden’s most beautiful neoclassical estates, it is situated between Rådasjön and Stensjön lakes, in the Mölndal Municipality, just south of Gothenburg. Continue south along the West Swedish coastline. Maybe detour to the ancient university city of Lund, over 1000 years old and one of the oldest cities in Sweden. The University was founded in 1658. Or detour to Copenhagen, located just on the other side of the narrow Øresund Belt. Arrive in Malmö, a charming city where you can visit Malmöhus Castle,  built in 1434 by King Erik VII of Denmark, and home to some outstanding  museum collections since 1926.  Accommodation at Clarion Hotel & Congress Malmo Live or similar.

Day 6 Malmo - Kalmar 285km
Continue to Kristianstad, a former fortress town founded by the Danish King, Christian IV  in around 1614. Take the coast road to Karlshamn, known for its charming and well-preserved historical buildings,  and also a place that played an important role in Swedish emigration to America, as a large number of people forever left from here. Just west of Växjö reach the ‘Kingdom of Crystal’. Here you can visit some of  the famous glass factories, experience the art of glassblowing and search for bargains in the wonderful shops. Continue to Kalmar, famous for its castle – a long-time guardian of Sweden’s southern frontier. Accommodation at First Hotel Witt or similar.

Day 7 Kalmar - Stockholm 409km
Kalmar was once one of the most important towns in the North - spend some time here before continuing back to Stockholm. The historical past is an integral part of the character of the city. Kalmar Castle, the Old Town and Kvarnholmen tell the tale of mighty Kings and Queens as well as commoners. Traces of the past are found in architecture, cultural artifacts and art as well as in the well- worn cobblestones that pave the streets. Return to Stockholm along the Eastern coast line via Västervik, Norrköping and Södertalje.  Accommodation at Hotell Kung Carl or similar.

Day 8 Stockholm departure 
Drive to Arlanda airport to drop off your rental car and end of arrangements.
