Visit the highlights of South Greenland – see glaciers, fjords, Viking settlements and icebergs on this relaxed and enjoyable tour. You will find yourselves in a new world, waiting to be discovered, where roads are the exception and where nature is practically untouched. Stay each night in comfortable hotel accommodation.

Day 1: Iceland - Greenland
Make your own way to Keflavik Airport for your flight to Narsarsuaq, Greenland. After a welcome at the airport, transfer to the hotel, for check-in and an information meeting with your guide. Time to visit and walk around the area. Then we take an easy hike to Glacier View Point, around one hour from the hotel, for great views of the fjord, the plain of Narsarsuaq and the Glacier. 3 nights at Hotel Narsarsuaq in standard room with private facilities and daily breakfast.

Day 2: Flower Valley and Qooroq Ice Fjord
Today we cross to Narsarsuaq on a RIB boat, then walk through the Flower Valley, enjoying the spectacular view of a valley formed due to the retreat and consequent glacial sedimentation, where many lovely flowers can be seen. We continue walking until we can see Kiattut glacier and the landscape around it, with superb panoramic views of the ice sheet and its Nunataks. This is one of the most renowned views in all of Greenland.

Then return to Narsarsuaq and start an exciting Icebergs Safari to the Qooroq Ice Fjord, one of the most active glaciers in southern Greenland. It offers one of Greenland's best images with spectacular views either from the fiord or green mountains and valleys. Here you will be surprised by a wide variety of both small and enormous icebergs floating in the water. We will navigate among these impressive and abundant white and blue-tinged blocks of ice, while surrounded by green leafy tundra and rocky-mountains, a complete contrast of Polar landscapes. Then return to the hotel.

Day 3: Tasiusaq, the “Iceberg’s Bay” and Viking Ruins of Eric The Red
Transfer to Qassiarsuk, from where we walk to Tasiusaq farm, where seven people live in notable isolation next to Sermilik fjord, which is almost always blocked by the ice and icebergs coming from Eqaloruutsit glacier. Continue to Nunataaq Farm, a former Viking settlement where some ruins are still to be found and enjoy impressive views of Tasiusaq Bay and the numerous icebergs, and there are lakes hidden in the tundra.

In the afternoon you can join an optional easy 2 hour kayak excursion in the “Iceberg's Bay” or your can take a peaceful walk in the surrounding region. Please note this excursion requires a minimum of 2 persons to operate.

On the way back Qassiarsuk we see Brattahlid, the old capital of Viking Greenland, where Eric the Red settled in 985 at the start of the colonisation of Greenland. Enjoy a guided visit of the original ruins, and of a replica of the original chapel and longhouse.  We stop at the Leif Erikson Hostel where you can purchase dinner, before we then transfer back to Narsarsuaq to the hotel.

Day 4 Igaliku and Narsarsuaq - Iceland.
In the morning we navigate by RIB to Itilleq - from here we start an  easy hike to cross the “Kongevejen”, or Path of the Kings. Our destination is idyllic Igaliku, a small Inuit settlement inhabited by no more than 40 people. This town is famous for being the most beautiful settlement in Greenland, and here we explore the ruins of Gardar, the archdiocese and religious capital of Viking Greenland. Then we transfer back to Narsarsuaq;  if time permits we can walk around in the area and visit the local museum, Narsarsuaq Museum Blue West, which reflects the town’s history.

Or you may wish to have a fantastic final view of Greenland on an optional helicopter flight to the Qooroq Ice Fjord (please note: this excursion will be weather dependent and can only be purchased when in Greenland), before departing on the return flight to Kelavik Airport, Iceland. Your tour arrangements end with your arrival at Keflavik Airport.
