Join a unique adventure to Nordenskiöld glacier! On this trip you will travel far away from Longyearbyen, right into the heart of the arctic land to the Nordenskiöld area. Nordenskiöld lies in front of the magnificent Nordenskiöld glacier. This is a place where you truly can enjoy the arctic silence while doing a glacier climb, kayaking and some great hikes.

Nordenskiöld Lodge, the world's northern most accommodation cabin, is a comfortable and cosy lodge, hidden in the glacier moraine of the Nordenskiold glacier. Accommodation is in 5 shared rooms, each with 2 beds. With no running water or electricity, Nordenskiöld is a true expedition lodge. From this comfortable base enjoy daily guided hiking on the blue glaciers, guided kayaking amongst the glacier ice and a fantastic full day guided glacier hike. The tour also includes 2 nights in an hotel in Longyearbyen.

Day 1 Arrival Longyearbyen
On arrival in Longyearbyen transfer to your accommodation. Time to explore the town, perhaps visit the Svalbard Museum, the North Pole Expedition Museum and the Svalbard Kirke, or browse the shops for a unique souvenir. At 4pm meet your guide in the hotel lobby for a briefing and welcome. Overnight in Longyearbeyn at Basecamp Hotel.

Day 2 Longyearbyen - Nordenskiold
This morning meet your guide at 08:00hrs at your hotel then head to the harbour to board the open boat. We will travel all the way to the Billefjorden and Adolfbukta. There is plenty of wildlife around the fjords at this time of the year, so you will have some good opportunities to see arctic birds, walruses, belugas or even polar bears. On arrival at the Nordenskiöld cabin, enjoy an outdoor lunch then we walk out into our surroundings to explore the beauty around us. In the evening, we will return to the cabin for a delicious dinner and warm sauna. Overnight at the Nordenskiöld Lodge for 4 nights.

Day 3 Nordenskiold: Kayaking
This morning you will paddle in pairs in double kayaks. Kayaking is a perfect way to get around in the arctic and a very traditional way to explore the arctic shorelines. Our day trip takes us to the abandoned mining settlement of Brucebyen, with huts that where build 100 years ago by a Scottish geologist. The guide will tell you about the fascinating history of the area before we return to the lodge to again relax in the sauna and then enjoy a delicious dinner.

Day 4 Nordenskiold: Glacier Walking and Climbing
After breakfast we go to the majestic Nordenskiöld Glacier, just 300 metres away from the cabin.  Spend the day on the glacier walking up and down in the glacier cracks and enjoying the shining glacier around us, with an expedition lunch along the way. In the evening, we head down to the shoreline to make a bonfire and cook a barbeque dinner.

Day 5 Nordenskiold: Hiking
Today put on your hiking boots and head out the door to the nearby mountains peaks. We will explore the beautiful arctic land, glacier moraines and small flowers surviving in the harsh environment. We will reach one of the nearby mountain peaks and enjoy an expedition lunch on the way.

Day 6  Nordenskiold: Hiking and Return to Longyearbyen
After breakfast there is one last opportunity for a hike and photo stop to the glacier front or hike to the moraine to take the last pictures of the wildlife and the shiny glacier. After lunch we return by open boat to Longyearbyen, via Pyramiden on the way back to Longyearbyen, a former Russian settlement closed down in 1998, and a fascinating place to visit. We arrive back in Longyearbeyn in the late afternoon or early evening. Overnight at Basecamp Hotel.
