Day 1 Bergen Arrival and Mt Floien Funicular Ride
On arrival make your own way to your hotel. The remainder of day is at leisure in Bergen, the gateway to the fjords, before an evening welcome meeting with your tour leader. This evening take the Floibanen funicular up to the top of Mount Floien, for some amazing views. If you are feeling energetic you can stroll from the top down the easy 3km track that winds through forest and into the fringes on the city, and enjoy the Midnight Sun!Overnight at Scandic Neptun Hotel, centrally located just 2 minutes from Torgallmenningen Square and within  walking distance of the charming, UNESCO listed Bryggen, with restaurants and bars in historic former Hanseatic trading buildings.

Or, if you arrive in Bergen earlier, you can take an optional 1.5 hour fjord cruise which includes a buffet lunch or dinner.

Day 2 Bergen: CIty sightseeing - Hardangerfjord - Norheimsund
Start today with a morning 2 hour panoramic sightseeing tour of Bergen, including the popular fish market and the historical wharf area of Bryggen. Then depart Bergen and head into beautiful Hardangerfjord, the fourth longest fjord in the world, and the second longest in Norway. This area is known as the orchard of Norway because of it's fertile farmland and green fields. Overnight at Thon Hotel Sandven, Norheimsund, including dinner. This historic hotel was established in 1875, is steeped in tradition, and is located in a spectacular setting on the edge of the fjord.

Day 3  Norheimsund - Stalheim - Flam - Balestrand
Continue today from Norheimsund to Voss, travelling via Stalheimen, situated on the very top of the  Naeroydalen Canyon, for panoramic views over the valley. Then onwards to the small and idyllic village of Flåm, nestled deep in Aurlandsfjord, a tributary of the famous Sognefjord. Surrounded by steep mountains up to 1400 m high, roaring waterfalls and deep valleys, this area is a paradise. From Flam, enjoy a leisurely fjord cruise through stunning landscapes to tiny Gudvangen.

From here, we continue by coach to Vangsnes, crossing the magnificent Sognefjord, nicknamed the King of the Fjords, and the largest and deepest fjord in Norway, stretching 205 kilometres inland from the ocean to the small village of Skjolden. We reach Balestrand, beautifully located beside the Sognefjord, and Kviknes Hotel where you will stay for 2 nights. The Kvikne family have been the hosts here since 1877, when the hotel was built in the Swiss chalet style. Now a modern hotel with old-world charm and atmosphere, the hotel is graced with an extensive collection of artworks and antiques, which give it a special style.Whilst at Balestrand dinner at the hotel is included.

Day 4 Balestrand: Glacier Day
Today we visit the glaciers. Travel by ferry across Fjærlandfjord, before reaching Jostedal Glacier and the Breheimsenteret Glacier Centre. Jostedal Glacier is the largest glacier on the European mainland and the entire glacier, as well as some of the nearby valleys, all form a vast National Park. We take a ferry across a small lake to see the Nigardsbreen Glacier, an arm of the larger glacier; here, unlike many other glaciers, you can get right up close!  Then we take the ferry back and enjoy lunch and a visit to the Breheimsenteret Glacier Centre, before returning to Balestrand. 2nd overnight in Balestrand.

This is a spectacular train trip, offering panoramic views of some of the wildest and most magnificent nature in the Norwegian fjord landscape. The Flåm Railway is one of the steepest train lines in the world, with almost 80% of the journey on a gradient of 5.5%. On arrival at the mountain station of Myrdal, we change trains and travel on the Bergen Line to the Norwegian capital, Oslo. Here we stay for 2 nights at the Scandic St. Olavs plass Hotel, situated in a peaceful location just around the corner from Karl Johans Gate, the Royal Palace and Oslo city centre, and just 350 metres from the airport bus stop.
