One highlight after another awaits you on this trip through some of the most spectacular and fascinating scenery in the World - deep fjords, icy glaciers, picturesque villages and majestic mountains. This incredible journey includes the Hardanger and Sognefjords, a visit to the foot of one of the most accessible glaciers in Norway, Nigardsbreen, the famous Flam Railway and the cities of Oslo and Bergen. Then continue on to the wonderful cities of Stockholm and Copenhagen.

Day 1 Bergen Arrival
On arrival make your own way to your hotel. The remainder of day is at leisure in Bergen, the Gateway to the Fjords, before an evening welcome meeting with your tour leader and fellow travellers.

Day 2 Bergen - Hardangerfjord - Norheimsund
Morning 2 hour sightseeing tour of Bergen, including the popular fish market, and the historical wharf area of Bergen known as Bryggen. Then depart Bergen and head into the beautiful Hardangerfjord, known as the orchard of Norway because of it's fertile farmland. Overnight including dinner.

Day 3 Norheimsund-Flam-Balestrand
Continue via Voss to Stalheim then the idyllic village of Flåm, from where you will enjoy a leisurely fjord cruise to Gudvangen. Continue by coach to Vangsnes, crossing the Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in Norway and arriving in Balestrand, where you will stay for 2 nights including dinner.

Day 4 Balestrand: Glacier Day
Travel by ferry across Fjærlandfjord, before reaching Jostedal Glacier and Breheimsenteret Glacier Centre. Jostedal Glacier is the largest on the European mainland and as well as some of the nearby valleys, forms a vast National Park. You reach the glacier either by taking the ferry across a small lake or by walking for approximately 30-40 minutes from the car park. Unlike many other glaciers, here you can get right up close!  Then enjoy lunch and a visit to the Glacier Centre before returning to Balestrand.

Day 5 Balestrand - Flam - Myrdal - Oslo
Mid-morning journey across the Sognefjord to Flåm, before boarding one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world, the Flåm Railway. This spectacular train journey offers a panoramic view of some of the wildest and most magnificent nature in the Norwegian fjord landscape. This is one of the steepest train lines in the world, on normal tracks, with almost 80% of the journey on gradient of 5.5%. On arrival at Myrdal mountian station, change trains and travel on the Bergen Line to the Norwegian capital, Oslo, where you will stay for 2 nights.

Day 6 Oslo City Tour
Enjoy a 3 hour city tour of Oslo including Vigeland Scuplture Park with its 200 sculptures, plus a photo at Holmenkollen Ski Jump for a fantastic view over the city and a brief walk on the Opera House. Afternoon at leisure to further explore Oslo's many museums including the Viking Museum and the Kon-Tiki Museum, or relax in the cafes and restaurants around the old wharf area.

Day 7: Oslo - Stockholm
Today we travel towards Stockholm, through the beautiful and idyllic countryside of Norway and Sweden. In the afternoon we arrive in Stockholm, where there is time for you to explore on your own. Perhaps bask in the unique atmosphere of the Old Town (Gamla Stan) and wander through it's narrow and historic streets. 2 nights in Stockholm.

Day 8: Stockholm Sightseeing
Start today with a 3 hour panoramic city tour. This glorious and ancient city is built over 14 islands and is affectionately known as the Venice of the North. Our tour will take us past major sights which include the Cathedral, Stroget Square and Fjallgatan, where you can marvel at panoramic views of the city.

The afternoon is free - maybe take a trip to Royal Djurgården Island, an area of mainly parkland and forest, and home to many museums and historical buildings, including Skansen, an open-air museum presenting historical Sweden, Vasamuseet (Vasa Museum), featuring the warship Vasa, which sank in Stockholm on her maiden voyage in 1628, the imposing Nordiska Museet (Nordic Museum), a leading museum of Scandinavian culture and history. Don't forget ABBA The Museum - much  more than an ordinary museum with costumes, gold records, original items, memorabilia and much, much more!

Day 9: Stockholm - Copenhagen Over the Oresund Bridge.
This morning we depart Stockholm bound for Denmark and it's charming capital Copenhagen. Travel south across the lovely landscape of the Swedish countryside, via Malmo, situated on the coast and directly opposite Copenhagen over the Kattegat Straits. The 2 cities are connected by the engineering wonder that is the Oresund Bridge. After crossing the bridge we arrive in Copenhagen, where the remainder of the day and night is at your leisure. We will spend 2 nights here.

Day 10: Copenhagen Sightseeing
Today offers a 3 hour panoramic city tour. See the old waterfront district of Nyhavn, the Royal Palace at Amalienborg, the famous Little Mermaid statue and more. The afternoon and evening is at your leisure - you may like to visit Torvehallerne (covered market halls) for a casual taste of some New Nordic cuisine, visit the delightful Tivoli gardens, the Museum of Carlsberg or one of the many other art, culture, history or design museums.
