A comprehensive escorted tour of Scandinavia and Russia.Travel from Copenhagen, Denmark's wonderful capital, to the fjords of Norway, then fascinating and historic Stockholm and Helsinki, before the magical cities of St Petersburg and Moscow. 

Day 1 Arrive Copenhagen
Make your own way to your hotel or take the optional private transfer from the airport. Accommodation at Hotel Tivoli or similar.

Day 2 Copenhagen - Oslo: City sightseeing and Overnight Ferry to Oslo
Copenhagen - Scandinavia’s largest and most lively city is one of Europe’s most romantic capitals with its old castles and churches, charming squares and harbours. The morning sightseeing tour will acquaint us with all the city’s treasures: the Little Mermaid guarding the port, the Royal Castle, Nyhavn with its restaurants and small boats and the City Hall Square. Afternoon departure for embarkation on the overnight ferry bound for Oslo. Buffet dinner onboard, in outside cabin with private facilities. The ferry also has bars and shops to enjoy.

Day 3 Oslo - Eidfjord: Landscapes and Mountain Resorts 
Morning arrival in Oslo, then head directly to Hoenefoss and Nesbyen, an area of  beautiful landscapes, which alternate between pine forests and lakes, to arrive in the lovely Hallingdal Valley. We visit Gol village then continue to Geilo, a small resort town surrounded by mountains. From here, onwards to Hardangervidda where we visit Voringfossen Waterfall, before our arrival in Eidfjord, where we stay the night. Accommodation at Hotel Quality Voringfoss or similar including dinner. 

Day 4 Eidfjord - Bergen
This morning takes us further into the breath-taking Norwegian countryside. We cross the splendid Hardanger Fjord over Hardanger Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridge spans in the world. On the other side we pass Nordheimsund, then travel through birch forests to reach Bergen, known as the capital of the fjords. Situated on a peninsula surrounded by seven mountains, the city's history is closely connected with the sea and trade. The picturesque historic waterfront is delightful.  The afternoon sightseeing tour introduces us to this remarkable Hanseatic city, with the Bryggen area of old wooden houses, the traditional Fish Market and city centre with the St. Mary’s Church and Haakon’s Hall the highlights. Accommodation at Hotel Scandic Oernen or similar.

Day 5 Bergen - Stalheim
The morning is at leisure so you may explore more of the stunning Norwegian fjord capital in your own time. In the afternoon, we travel to historic Voss, with it's scenic background of snow clad mountains. After a break here, we continue towards Naeroy Valley and Stalheim, with fantastic views down Stalheim Gorge. Accommodation and dinner at Hotel Stalheim or similar. 

Day 6 Stalheim - Fagernes
Today we continue through fjords and their formidable, water-drowned glacial valleys  flanked by almost impossibly rugged terrain, to Gudvangen. Cross Naeroyfjord and reach Flam village, where you can take an optional trip on the magnificent Flam Railway - not only one of the world's most breathtaking rail journeys, but also a masterpiece of engineering. In the afternoon, we continue along Aurlandsfjord, for a photo stop at the famous Borgund Stave Church before travelling on to Fagernes. Accommodation and dinner at Hotel Scandic Valdres or similar. 

Day 7 Fagernes - Oslo: Viking Capital
After breakfast we leave the majestic Norwegian fjords behind us and return to Oslo in the early afternoon. Founded in 1048 it is Scandinavia’s oldest capital and is today, a very pleasant and easy city with an interesting mix of historical and modern architecture. Our city sightseeing starts with a walk around Frogner Park, decorated with the unique sculptures of Gustav Vigeland. We then pass by City Hall and the main street, Karl Johan, which leads to the Royal Palace. Accommodation at Hotel Thon Opera or similar.

Day 8 Oslo - Stockholm: Forests, Lakes and Vistas
Today we head for Stockholm, passing through Norwegian forests and across the border, to the Swedish farm county of Varmland. Throughout the day we drive through typical, local landscapes with fertile farmland, blue lakes and thick forests, which evoke an atmosphere of intriguing fairytales. Afternoon arrival in Stockholm; accommodation at Hotel Scandic Grand Central or similar.

Day 9 Stockholm Sightseeing 
Stockholm (Beauty on Water) is undoubtedly one of the loveliest capitals in the world. Built on 14 islands, it is protected from the sea by Skargarden archipelago. Morning sightseeing takes us to the Old Town with the Royal Palace and Cathedral, then to the city centre with its famous City Hall. The afternoon is yours to spend as you wish.

Day 10 Stockholm - Helsinki
The morning is also free for you to explore more of Stockholm on your own. Mid-afternoon, depart for embarkation on your overnight ferry to Helsinki. Cruise slowly through the archipelago, passing numerous islands and islets. Dinner will be enjoyed onboard the vessel as you watch the world drift by.  

Day 11 Helsinki: City Sightseeing
Helsinki is truly located at the crossroads of Western and Eastern culture and this is reflected everywhere in the green, lively Finnish capital. The sightseeing tour takes us around the harbours, Senate Square, up central Mannerheim Street and by the Parliament Building, Finlandia Hall and Sibelius Monument, then for a visit to the famous Church-in the-Rock.

Day 12: Helsinki & Seurasaari Open Air Museum
Morning at leisure. The afternoon offers an optional excursion to Seurasaari Open-Air Museum. This oasis in the midst of the city has cottages, farmsteads and manors from all around Finland.

Day 13 Helsinki - St Petersburg via Vyborg Castle
Today we continue eastbound to St. Petersburg. Shortly after crossing the border into Russia, we arrive in Vyborg, where we take time for a short sightseeing tour and a photo stop at V
yborg Castle. Late afternoon arrival in St. Petersburg with overnight at Hotel Sokos Vasilievsky or similar.

Day 14 St Petersburg: Imperial City Tour & Catherine’s Palace and Amber Room 
St. Petersburg is an amazing city. Its imperial palaces and museums enjoy worldwide fame, while the Neva River and the many canals have deservedly given the city the title, Venice of the North. During your morning sightseeing tour, become acquainted with all the splendours of the city: Peter-Paul Fortress, the Winter Palace, St. Isaac’s Cathedral, Church of the Bleeding Saviour, Nevsky Convent and more. This afternoon offers an optional visit to Zarskoye Selo with the impressive Catherine’s Palace and the Amber Room, which vanished during World War II and was restored for St. Petersburg’s tri-centennial celebrations. In the evening, enjoy an optional visit to Nikolaevsky Palace to see an exciting traditional Russian folklore show, including some Russian drinks and snacks.

Day 15 St Petersburg: Peterhof Palace & Hermitage Art Museum
This morning offers an optional excursion to Peterhof Palace - an uncontested masterpiece of Peter the Great's time, with the impressive Grand Palace, Grand Cascade, Water Avenue and wonderful parks (please note the fountains at Peterhof only operate from May to the end of August). In the afternoon, enjoy an optional visit to the world-famous, treasure filled Hermitage Art Museum - a truly wonderful way to end your exploration of this magnificent city. Tonight, you might like to join the optional Russian dinner at Restaurant Russian Pryanosti & Radosti.

Day 16 St Petersburg - Moscow: Canal Cruise & Fast train to Moscow
In the early morning, you can take an optional guided canal cruise along the meandering waterways of St Petersburg.
Around noon, we transfer to the Railway Station and board the Sapsan high-speed train bound for Moscow. The train ride takes us through endless Russian landscapes along the River Volga. Late afternoon arrival in Moscow for accommodation at Hotel Park Inn Sadu or similar.

Day 17  Moscow: Kremlin, Cathedrals, Metro & River Cruise
Moscow, the Mother of Russia, is a genuine Russian city with the Kremlin and its onion domed cathedrals. The dramatic changes over the last decade have made the city one of the most dynamic metropolis in the world. Morning sightseeing includes all the highlights of this vast city - Red Square with the Kremlin, Theatre Square with the Bolshoi Theatre, Sparrow Hills with Moscow University and the Kremlin grounds including one of the cathedrals. In the afternoon, optional visit to the famous Moscow Metro including stations along the Ring Line, followed by a guided stroll along famous Arbat Street, is offered. This evening's optional tour is the 'Moscow by Night' tour which and includes an unforgettable river cruise with the White Flotilla.

Day 18 Moscow: Sergiev Posad & Russian Circus
Today is available for a full day optional excursion to Sergiev Posad - visit the Trinity Lavra of St Sergius, the most important Russian monastery and the spiritual heart of the country. This year the monastery celebrates the 700th anniverary of St Sergius. The evening offers an optional final excursion, being a visit to the Old Russian Circus.

Day 19 Depart Moscow
Optional private transfer from hotel to the airport and end of arrangements.
