"I spent a week here hoping to see the Aurora Borealis, and do the Winter activities. Everything was well organised, I got a time table of activities on my arrival, as well as the outdoor gear for the activities. Staff were lovely, Hannah especially. Breakfast was plentiful, and dinners were fantastic. The centre is just outside of the "town" of Muonio, so it is very quiet, and the activities being organised is great. I absolutely loved the Husky sledding! We were lucky enough to see the Aurora on our first night out, which was incredible." - Misrabelle, Sydney 2015.

This tour offers you the pleasures of staying in a small resort next to Lake Torassieppi, on the edge of the Pallas-Ylläs  National Park. Each day enjoy fantastic Winter outdoor activities including snowshoeing, dog sledding, a visit to a reindeer farm, cross country skiing, an Arctic dip into icy waters followed by a traditional smoke sauna, a cooking course, and a lesson in local handicrafts. Then, at night, step outside and look for the Northern Lights-  this area with no light pollution is one of the best places to search for the Aurora. Each evening after an active day outside enjoy scrumptious dinners made with local organic ingredients. Your tour arrangements include accommodation, use of outer winter clothing, airport transfers and guided excursions.

Day 1 Kittila- Torassieppi
On arrival at Kittilä airport transfer to the hotel at Torassieppi (abut 45 minutes drive). Meet your hosts at a welcome meeting, where you will receive full details on your programme for the days to come. Dinner is served in the restaurant, after you’ve settled into your cosy accomodation.

Day 2 Local Culture, Reindeer Sled Ride & Handicrafts and Aurora Campfire
After breakfast, walk to the reindeer farm, just a few minutes from your accomodation. The reindeer herder will give you an insight into the role of the reindeer and their significance in Lappish life, before we visit the original 100 year old manor house and local museum. Then it's time for a reindeer sled ride, on a 3 km safari through the snow-covered landscape. Return to the farm for lunch served in a traditional lappish kota by the fire. After lunch, enjoy making some very traditional Lappish handicrafts including  ”pirtanauha”- colourful woollen ribbons traditionally used as shoe laces, belts, and chains - a lovely souvenir to bring back from your Lapland adventure. Dinner is served in the restaurant. In the evening, take a guided walk from the hotel to a prime Northern Lights viewing spot, and enjoy hot drinks and snacks next to the campfire, while waiting for the lights to (hopefully!) appear.

Day 3 Cross Country Skiing trip to the National Park & Local Cooking Lesson
After a lesson in cross-country skiing, hop on to your skis and head to the national park, which is just around the corner. Your guide will lead you on a 3-hour skiing trip, over well maintained tracks, passing through the untouched beauty of the national park. After the trip lunch is served in the restaurant. The rest of the afternoon is free for relaxing. In the early evening, join the hotel chef in the large Kota for a cooking lesson using fresh local ingredients - the dishes prepared will be served tonight at dinner.

Day 4 Snowshoe hike in Pallas Fell area & Arctic Spa
After breakfast, transfer by minibus to the Pallas fell area. This is the biggest fell area in West-Lapland and well known for its breathtaking scenery. Here we strap on our snowshoes for an exciting trek to capture the most beautiful views. Enjoy a tasty picnic snack by the fire, before returning to the hotel. This afternoon, you can relax at the Arctic Spa on the shores of the lake. Try the bracing experience of diving into icy waters, before warming up in the smoke sauna- true Finnish winter fun!

Day 5 Husky Safari
After some free time this morning, it's off to meet some furry friends down at the husky farm. The dog "musher" will tell you about the life and habits of these amazing Arctic working animals, before  we head out on a 17 km safari, with 2 persons sharing each sled. The route takes us through snow covered forest and untouched areas of wilderness.

Days 6 and 7 Days at leisure & Farewell Dinner.
Today and tomorrow there is time to relax and just savour the delights of winter in the Finnish countryside. You can hire snowshoes or cross country skis, or perhaps do an additonal optional winter activity? These include more dog sledding, snowmobiling, ice fishing and more. Lunch is served daily in the restaurant. On your final evening, enjoy a special farewell dinner with local delicacies.
