"Lapland is like a stunning enchanted forest, it is just magical. The tour itself was so much more than what we expected. The sights, the beauty, the people, the activities, the accommodation, the food, the everything, so exceeded our expectations!! We could not recommend this tour highly enough." -Steph & Col, Central Coast, N.S.W. 2018

On this great tour, every evening sees you out searching for the Northern Lights in a different way. Walk using snowshoes on trails through the forest, ride on a dog sled with a team of friendly huskies, travel in a reindeer drawn sleigh and finally drive further afield by car. With all these safaris starting after 20:30 each night, you have the days to relax or enjoy some great optional activities, and the evenings to chase the lights. Your tour arrangements include accommodation, use of outer winter clothing, airport transfers and guided excursions.

Day 1 Arrival in Kittila
After arriving at Kittilä Airport, transfer to your hotel at Harriniva (approximately 1 hour) where you will be issued with your warm outer winter clothing, for use during your stay, and your Northern lights alarm, which will go off to tell you if the lights are spotted during the evening, when you are in your hotel room. Remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 2 Aurora Snowmobile Adventure
Day at leisure. In the evening, we drive by snowmobile to the top of the Olos fell, where you will feel as though you are really close to the stars - this is a prime position for Northern lights watching, and a great spot to enjoy some hot drinks. 2 persons share the driving of each snowmobile, with the chance to swap drivers half way through. Each driver must be over 18 years of age and have a valid drivers licence.

Day 3 Secrets of the Northern Lights  and Aurora Snowshoeing
Morning at leisure. This afternoon, meet in the big traditional kota or Lappish tent, to cook pancakes over the open fire. Then enjoy an informative workshop about the fascinating phenomenon of the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis, and the science behind it, and get some tips about how best to photograph the lights. Tonight head out into the forest, away from any light pollution, with your snowshoes on. Snowshoeing is one of the oldest and most traditional modes of transport in Lapland and you will be amazed how quietly you can pass along the softly lit paths. A warming fire will be lit and hot drinks served during the snowshoe walk.

Day 4 Lappish Foodie Experience
Another day to relax, or perhaps sleep in after your late night adventures, and maybe enjoy a sauna at the hotel. Or take some cross country skis and head off to explore. This evening we will head to a traditional Lappish kota to prepare a barbeque over the open fire. The dishes we make will then be served as a three course meal while we enjoy the cosy atmosphere and local experience.

Day 5 Husky Night Adventure
Day at leisure. The fun continues tonight with a visit to the local husky farm. After a driving lesson and safety briefing, enjoy a 9km dog sled safari, stop for hot drinks around the fire and warm up, whilst you keep a look out above. 2 persons share each sled.

Day 6 Aurora Reindeer Safari
Today is a day to explore or relax. Maybe take some snowshoes or cross country skiis out? Tonight you are off to the local reindeer farm, where you will climb into reindeer sleighs, to be pulled through the silent forests, cuddled cosily in the sled with warm blankets, and making sure you keep a lookout in the night  skies. After the sleigh ride, enjoy hot drinks in a warm kota.

Day 7 Farewell dinner and Northern Lights Bonus Hunt!
Today is your last day to experience life above the Arctic Circle. This evening enjoy a fabulous farewell dinner with Lappish delicacies, before you head out on a "bonus hunt". Your local guide will decide which mode of transport will give you the last chance to see the Northern Lights, and where you should go.
