Kemi lies in the very north of Finnish Lapland, right by the biggest ice field in Europe, the frozen Gulf of Bothnia. Enjoy some great family Christmas fun including a husky safari, reindeer sleigh ride, a visit to Santa Claus Village and much more. Your tour arrangements include accommodation, use of outer winter clothing, airport transfers and guided excursions.

23 December: Welcome to Kemi, Lapland
On arrival at Kemi Airport or Kemi Railway Station, transfer to your hotel and time at leisure. Enjoy dinner at the hotel tonight.

24 December: Husky Safari and Festive Christmas Eve Dinner
Short transfer from the hotel to a local sled dog farm, where your hosts live and work with their huskies. Learn about the training and life of these happy, lively working dogs, and after some driving instructions and a safety briefing you’ll take off on a memorable ride, with 2 persons sharing each sled and dog team, and children travelling tucked up snugly either in the guide's sled or in their parents’ sleds. After this fun and exciting ride, relax in a Lappish kota or traditional teepee and enjoy a cup of coffee or hot berry juice by the open fire.

Time at leisure - perhaps indulge in a traditional refreshing Finnish sauna, before enjoying tonight's Christmas celebration buffet. We transfer to a special festive lodge outside town, in the heart of a snowy forest. By old Finnish tradition Santa Claus comes to the dining room, but not until he hears us singing! When Santa hears our Christmas song, he comes in and greets everyone, bringing a small gift for all guests. After a wonderful Christmas dinner of international and local treats, it's time to go outside to look for the Northern Lights nearby, before we return to the hotel.

25 December: Excursion to the Arctic Circle and Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi
Today transfer by coach from Kemi to Rovaniemi, about 1.5hrs away. Here we start with a visit to a reindeer farm, where you’ll meet the reindeer herders, learn about reindeer and their life in the wilderness, and the importance of Lappish reindeer culture. You’ll also enjoy a short ride in a reindeer drawn sleigh, driven by the herder, which will take you across the Arctic Circle. After receiving a special Certificate of Crossing, marking you as a real Arctic explorer, continue on to Santa Claus Village. Here you can meet the man himself and enjoy lunch in Santa's restaurant. Late afternoon transfer back to Kemi, with a short stop along en route in Tervola to admire some charming old wooden churches, dating from the 17th Century.

26 December: Winter Fun Time Snowmobile Safari
After breakfast, we head away from town into the snowy wilds for some great winter fun, including a short snowmobile safari in the woods, followed by lunch, after which you can try some snowshoeing or ice fishing - snowy memories are guaranteed! Then return to the hotel for dinner tonight.
