From your base in Reykjavik, enjoy some fantastic day excursions, showing you the highlights of Iceland's wonderful natural environment and culture.

On Day 2 visit the 3 premier sights that make up the "Golden Circle" - Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall and the Geysir geothermal area. Then on Days 3 and 4 you have a choice of excursions. On Day 3 explore the magnificent South Coast with stops at Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss Waterfalls OR visit the iceberg filled Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon. On Day 4 enjoy the beauty of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula OR take an exciting ride by monster truck onto the Langjokull Glacier followed by a guided walk into the Ice Cave!

Extra nights and excursions can be added. In winter, add a Hunt for the Northern Lights.

Day 1 Reykjavik Arrival
Arrival at Keflavik Airport and take the coach transfer to your hotel. Time at leisure - the city centre is a small area characterised by eclectic and colourful houses, good shopping and dining. Recently established as a haven for food lovers, numerous restaurants take advantage of the abundance of local seafood, meat and game.

There are also many wonderful museums including the National Museum, with artefacts from the first settlement to the modern age, giving an excellent overview of Iceland’s history and culture. Reykjavik 871+2 Settlement Museum is an archaeological museum based around a 10thC Viking longhouse unearthed in 2001. You may also like the Reykjavik Art Museum and the National Gallery.

Day 2 Golden Circle: Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall and the Geysir geothermal area.
Explore the fabulous highlights of the famed Golden Circle route. Drive around Southern Iceland's fertile farming area and visit one of the most magnificent waterfalls in all of Iceland, Gullfoss. Onwards to the erupting hot springs in Geysir area, before arriving at beautiful Þingvellir National Park. Here, the world's oldest parliament was founded in the year 930 AD and the European and American tectonic plates almost meet in a spectacular setting. Choose from a full day tour (8hrs) or a shorter tour (6hrs).

Day 3 South Coast, Waterfalls & Black Sand Beaches OR South Coast & Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon
Today choose between 2 great excursions. On the South Coast, Waterfalls and Black Sand Beaches tour you will travel through south Iceland’s farming land to the black sand beaches, thundering waterfalls, powerful volcanoes and majestic glaciers of the South Coast. First stop is Skógarfoss, a picturesque waterfall thundering down the slopes of Eyjafjallajökull volcano. Then onwards for a leisurely stroll along the black sand beach of Reynisfjara, with stacks of basalt columns that wall off surrounding cliffs scattered with caves. Offshore you will see the Reynisdrangar pillars, basalt rock stacks that rise from the sea. Then on to Seljalandsfoss waterfall to walk behind this magnificent wall of water. On a clear day you will have a fantastic view of Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull volcanoes and the Westman Islands.

Or visit the South Coast & Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon. This tour takes you along the beautiful south shore of Iceland to the extraordinary glacier lagoon, Jökulsárlón. With its enormous and ancient icebergs breaking off from Vatnajökull glacier, this natural wonder of Iceland is an awe inspiring sight. The lagoon produces a feeling of incredible tranquillity as the 1000-1500 year old ice silently drifts into the lake and slowly melts away. The lagoon covers 18 square kilometres and reaches over 248m at its deepest point- the lake is a result of Breiðarmerkurjökull glacier slowly retreating, leaving in its wake the lagoon and the oddly-shaped icebergs of various sizes. En route to the lagoon you will see some of Iceland’s most magnificent scenery, including the tallest mountain in Iceland, Hvannadalshnjúkur, and the sprawling black sand desert between Skaftafell National Park and the lagoon itself. From May to September enjoy a boat tour on the Lagoon (Please note the boat tour does not operate from October to April due to excess ice in the lagoon).

Day 4 Snaefellnes Peninsula Exploration OR Langjokull Glacier & Ice Cave
Today choose between 2 great excursions. On the Snaefellnes Peninsula  exploration visit the beautiful Snæfellsnes Peninsula on Iceland’s west side - the peninsula is almost like a miniature version of the whole country. In addition to the characteristic Snæfellsjökull glacier, you will find white and black sandy beaches, bird cliffs, spectacular mountains and volcanic craters, incredibly rich trout lakes and salmon rivers, lush valleys, and unique harbours in charming fishing villages. Stops will be made at the small fishing village Arnarstapi, the ancient fishing village Hellnar,  Djúpalónssandur beach and the iconic Kirkjufell Mountain.

OR enjoy the Langjokull Glacier & Ice Cave tour. From Reykjavík drive through the beautiful and historic Hvalfjörður (Whale-fjord) on route to Deildartunguhver, the highest-flow hot spring in Europe. Just a short distance from Deildartunguhver are two waterfalls; Hraunfossar, a series of waterfalls that literally flow from underneath the lava field, and Barnafoss with its powerful vortex of tumbling water. A short drive follows to the glacier where you will change vehicles and travel up to the unique man made cave in a special glacier truck. The cave itself will offer you an unprecedented look into the inner workings of a glacier - your guided tour from here will take you from the opening deep into the glacier where the ice is older and more compressed and where it starts to change to blue. On the way you will see a great example of a glacial fissure, running right through the cave, and cross it via a special bridge.
