On this tour you are based in Tromso, a charming town in northern Norway above the Arctic Circle. Each day, enjoy wonderful winter activities, including an exhilarating dog sled safari, 2 hunts for the Northern Lights, a magical trip on a reindeer drawn sleigh and Sami cultural experience, a harbour cruise in search of the Northern Lights, a fun snowshoe walk through the forest, an unforgettable snowmobile adventure, and more. And at night, return to your cosy hotel room to relax and enjoy the restaurants and cafes of the town.

Tromsø is renowned for being one of the best places on the planet to observe the amazing Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis, as it is situated right in the middle of the Northern Lights zone. And despite of being so far north, Tromsø enjoys a moderate climate, with the average temperature in January being -4.

Day 1 Tromso Arrival
On arrival at Tromso Airport, make your own way to your hotel. This university town has a lively atmosphere and friendly locals. Perhaps visit the Arctic Cathedral for it’s daring architecture, the Polaria Aquarium (don’t miss the Northern Lights & Spitsbergen Arctic Wilderness films), the Polar Museum to learn about the role Tromsø has played in Arctic exploration, and the MS Polstjerna, a well preserved sailing vessel from 1949.

Perhaps take the cable car up to Mount Storsteinen and enjoy the fantastic panoramic view of Tromsø and its surroundings, visit one of the several excellent art museums, or sample some local beer at Mack Brewery, the world's northernmost brewery with guided tours that take you through 130 years of beer brewing history.

Day 2 Tromso: Husky Safari and Northern Lights Hunt
Today transfer to the husky farm, and here meet the friendly huskies, and get ready for a real adventure! After a safety briefing we  head out into the amazing arctic coastal landscape, with fantastic views over Tromsø, surrounded by white covered mountains and long fjords. Choose between driving your own sled (with 2 persons per sled and the chance to swap drivers half way through) or sit back and let your "musher" do all the hard work for you, so you can sit back and enjoy the ride (with 2 passengers per sled).  There’s a good chance of spotting wildlife on the way through the snow covered landscapes, as you travel behind your four legged, furry friends. After the exciting dog-sled ride, return to the ranch to meet the puppies and other dogs and enjoy hot drinks and snacks, served around an open fire in an traditional and snug Sami tent. Remainder of the day at leisure.

Tonight enjoy a hunt for the fabled Northern Lights, travelling out of town and far away from any light pollution. Your hosts will help you with taking photographs and will tell you all about the facts and legends of the Aurora.

Day 3 Tromso: Reindeer Sled Ride & Sami Culture Experience
Reindeer-sledding is the oldest form of transport in the north and an ancient part of Sami culture. You will drive in pairs, with one sled for each reindeer. This cultural adventure includes lasso-throwing, just the way the Sami people still catch their reindeers today, and a fascinating explanation of Sami culture and history. A tasty and  traditional light meal is included.

Day 4 Tromso: Snowmobile Adventure, Afternoon Fun & Northern Lights Hunt
This morning a full day of adventure awaits you. Start with a transfer to the wilderness camp about 75 minutes drive away from the city, located in a climatic zone of stable, dry weather, with many days of clear skies and quiet surroundings that hold a genuine Arctic atmosphere. Here  enjoy a fantastic snowmobile adventure - you don't need any previous skills to drive a snowmobile, all you need is enthusiasm and a valid driver's licence. After a thorough safety introduction and driving lesson, start your engines! The trail is around 15km each way, starting at 250m above sea level and winding up to 875m. You will be driving in pairs, one driver and one passenger on each snowmobile, with the opportunity to switch places during the trip. The highlight of the trail is travelling over a frozen lake, where you can really feel the Arctic air! This afternoon you can just relax in the comfortable camp, or you can choose from a session in the wood fired sauna, ice fishing (only offered after 02 January) or cross country skiing. Then, this evening get ready for an Aurora Chase - the Camp is the perfect place to seek the Lights. Late evening return to Tromso.

Day 5 Tromso: Snowshoe Walk & Evening Northern Lights Cruise
This morning enjoy a guided snowshoe walk. The tour starts with a scenic drive between fjords and mountains to a hidden fjord, an Arctic paradise that remains largely untouched. Here you will enjoy spectacular scenery and gain a deeper insight into the nature and culture of Nortthern Norway On arrival, your guide will teach you how to use the snowshoes, and we then set out on a gentle and fun walk, with stops to rest and take photos, and to visit the site of a former Sami camp and learn a little about Sami history.  You might even get a glipmse of local wildlife such as reindeer, moose and different kinds of birds. During the walk, hot drinks and snacks are served. Afternoon at leisure to relax. In the evening, make your own way down to the harbour for your Northern Lights Dinner Cruise. The sea is one of the best spots for Aurora hunting! Aboard the warm, comfortable boat with a heated lounge, you will also get a great view of Tromso itself. A dinner of traditional Norwegian fish soup is included.
