This tour combines visits to the 2 Russian cities of St. Petersburg and Moscow, with Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, a thousand-year-old city where Islam and Christianity have co-existed peacefully throughout the centuries. Kazan is renowned for it's historic buildings including the Kremlin, a fortified citadel containing museums and several sacred sites, such as the tiered Tower of Soyembika, the blue-and-gold domed Annunciation Cathedral and the vast, colourful, Kul Sharif Mosque.

Day 1 Arrive St. Petersburg
Arrival in St. Petersburg. Make your own way to your hotel or there is an optional private transfer from the airport. Accommodation at Hotel Sokos Vasilievsky or similar. Check-in and early evening welcome meeting. Time at leisure.

Day 2 St. Petersburg: City Sightseeing, Catherine's Palace and Folklore Show
St. Petersburg is an amazing city. Its imperial palaces and museums enjoy worldwide fame, while the Neva River and the many canals have deservedly given the city the title, Venice of the North. During the morning sightseeing tour we get acquainted with all the splendours of the city: the Peter-Paul Fortress, Winter Palace, St. Isaac’s Cathedral, Church of the Bleeding Saviour, Nevsky Convent and much more. The afternoon offers an optional excursion to Zarskoye Selo with the impressive Catherine’s Palace and the Amber Room, which vanished during World War II and was restored for St. Petersburg’s tri-centennial celebrations. In the evening perhaps enjoy an optional visit to the Nikolaevsky Palace for an exciting Russian folklore show, with drinks and snacks.

Day 3 St Petersburg: Peterhof Palace and Hermitage Art Museum
The morning is reserved for an optional visit to Peterhof Palace, an uncontested masterpiece of the time of Peter the Great, with the impressive Grand Palace, Grand Cascade and Water Avenue and its wonderful parks. In the afternoon, an optional visit to the world-famous Hermitage Art Museum is offered and in the evening, an optional Russian dinner at Restaurant Russian Pryanosti & Radosti.

Day 4: St. Petersburg - Moscow; Canal Cruise and Train to Moscow
In the early morning, enjoy an optional cruise of the St. Petersburg canals, to see the wonderful architecture from a different angle. Around noon we go to the Railway Station and board the Sapsan high-speed train, bound for Moscow. The train ride takes us through endless Russian landscapes along the River Volga. In the late afternoon we arrive in Moscow and check in at Hotel Park Inn Sadu or similar.

Day 5 Moscow: City Sightseeing, Moscow Metro & Arbat Street and Moscow By Night
Moscow, The Mother of Russia, is a genuine Russian city with the Kremlin and its onion domed cathedrals. The dramatic changes over the last decade have made the city to one of the most dynamic metropolis in the world. The morning sightseeing tour includes highlights of this vast city: Red Square with St. Basil’s Cathedral, the Theatre Square with Bolshoi Theatre and Sparrow Hills with Moscow University. We also visit the Kremlin grounds and one of the cathedrals. In the afternoon, an optional visit to the Moscow Metro including historical stations on the Ring-Line and a guided stroll along the famous pedestrian Arbat Street. The evening offers an optional Moscow by night tour including an unforgettable river cruise with the White Flotilla.

Day 6 Moscow: Sergiev Posad and Train to Kazan
The day offers an optional full day excursion to the quaint town of Sergiev Posad, where we visit the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, the most important Russian monastery and the spiritual heart of the Russian Orthodox Church. The whole Lavra has been beautifully restored for the 700 year celebration of St. Sergius of Radonezh's birth. In the evening, transfer to Kazanskaya Railway Station and departure with the Tatarstan Premium train bound for Kazan. Overnight on the train in 2 berth compartment including dinner pack.

Day 7 Kazan: City Sightseeing
Morning arrival in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan. Located on the mighty Volga River, this beautiful 1000 year old city where, through the centuries, Christianity and Islam have co-existed peacefully. Upon arrival, transfer from the railway station to Hotel Park Inn Kazan or similar, where breakfast is served. Then, later in the morning, enjoy an exploration of the city's rich past, which takes us to the old Tatar Quarter. Here we visit the oldest stone mosque of Kazan, the Kazan Kremlin, a stone fortress of the 16th century with a perfect panoramic view, as well as the Kul-Sharif Mosque, one of the largest in Europe, and the Catholic Church of Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

Day 8 Kazan: Admiralteyskaya Quarter and the Raifa Monastery and Iske-Kazan (Old Kazan)
This morning offers an optional visit to the Admiralteyskaya Quarter and the Raifa Monastery. The still functioning monastery, located on the bank of a beautiful lake and surrounded by virgin forests, is one of the most beautiful sites in Tatarstan and has an intriguing history dating back to the 17th century. In the afternoon is offered an optional visit to Iske-Kazan (Old Kazan), a fascinating open-air museum featuring a modern reconstruction of a huge wooden fortress from time of the khanate, and an interactive theatrical show about the  people of medieval Kazan.

Day 9 Kazan: Sviyazhsk
This morning take an optional tour to Sviyazhsk, a scenic little town an hour’s drive from Kazan at the confluence of the Volga and Sviyaga Rivers, which has served as a fortress and military base since the 16th Century. We visit the Holy Domitian Monastery of Sviyazhsk and the Temple of St. Sergius of Radonezh, to enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the town and the rivers before we return to Kazan. In the evening, an optional traditional dinner at Restaurant Tatar Kulinary House, is offered.

Day 10 Kazan Departure
Optional private transfer from the hotel to the airport or railway station and end of arrangements.
