Start this fantastic tour with 2 nights in Stockholm, then travel north over the Arctic Circle by train to Kiruna. Experience the world-famous Icehotel located in the small village of Jukkasjarvi, Swedish Lapland - here you will spend 1 night in a Kaamos warm room and another in an Ice Room. Continue to Narvik and Tromso in northern Norway. Winter activities and Northern Lights Hunting along the way.

Itinerary

Day 1 Stockholm Arrival

On arrival in Stockholm, make your own way to your hotel. Stockholm, the 'Beauty on the Water', is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful capitals in the world, built on 14 islands and protected from the sea by the Skargarden archipelago. Explore Gamla Stan's charming, narrow cobbled streets, take a canal cruise, see the Royal Palace, the Parliament Buildings, or the City Hall with its famous Blue Hall and Golden Room. 2 nights in Stockholm at Clarion Hotel Stockholm or similar.

Day 2 Stockholm City Sightseeing by Bus

Today, hop on board a Hop On-Hop Off sightseeing bus and explore the Swedish capital's beautiful attractions. This bus sightseeing tour starts at the Royal Opera and stops at all the most beautiful and well-known places in Stockholm. The Old Town with its world-famous colorful houses, the old royal hunting ground Djurgården, or the southern island Södermalm with its hip urban atmosphere. Visit and see the sights and museums at your own pace – get on and off the bus as many times as you like. 2nd overnight in Stockholm.

Day 3 Stockholm to Kiruna by Overnight Train

Time at leisure to further explore. This evening, make your own way to Stockholm central railway station and depart on the overnight train from Stockholm to Kiruna. Overnight on-board the train in a private sleeping compartment.

Day 4 Kiruna - Icehotel: Kaamos Room overnight

Arrive into Kiruna and transfer from the railway station in to the world famous Icehotel, located in the village of Jukkasjärvi. The rest of the day is at leisure in this unique and breathtaking area. Perhaps enjoy an optional excursion which can be pre-booked: Northern Lights Safari by Snowmobile 4hrs; Northern Lights Hunt on Horseback 5hrs and more. Tonight, you will sleep in a Kaamos warm room.

Day 5 Icehotel: Husky Safari and Ice Room overnight 

Husky Safari today. During this hands-on dog sled tour you will learn to run your own team of huskies and get an interesting insight into the musher’s adventurous life in the last wilderness of Europe. Halfway into the journey a warming lunch is served at a cosy wilderness camp. There is also an option for a Husky Safari as a passenger in the sled. This evening prepare to experience the Ice Room! Surrounded by silence and wrapped in a thermal sleeping bag, you will sleep on a comfy thick mattress, covered with reindeer skins, on a bed built from a block of ice. Changing rooms, toilets and saunas are right nearby in the warm section of the hotel.

Day 6 Icehotel - Kiruna - Narvik - Tromso

This morning, wake-up to a hot lingonberry juice in bed, before enjoying a morning sauna and breakfast. Transfer to the railway station and board the train for your journey on the Ofoten Railway to Narvik, in Norway. The trip takes you through a historical, beautiful and wild landscape of mountains and fjords. Upon arrival in Narvik, short walk to the bus station to board the coach for the two hour trip to Tromso, fondly known as the capital of the Arctic and situated in heart of the Northern lights zone, surrounded by hundreds of islands, breathtaking blue fjords, glaciers, and the majestic peaks of the Lyngen Alps. This university town has a lively atmosphere and friendly locals. On arrival in Tromso make your own way to Clarion Hotel The Edge or similar for two nights accommodation.

Day 7 Tromso: Reindeer Safari and Northern Lights Dinner Cruise

Morning Reindeer experience and Sami Culture tour. Start by hand-feeding a herd of 300 reindeer at the camp before a hot traditional meal cooked over the fire in a Sami tent. Gather around the fire to enjoy joiking (traditional Sami songs), Sami history and stories. Afternoon at leisure. Perhaps visit the Arctic Cathedral for it's daring architecture, the Polaria Aquarium, the Polar Museum to learn about the role Tromso has played in Arctic exploration, and the MS Polstjerna, a well preserved sailing vessel from 1949. Or sample some local beer at Mack Brewery, the world's Northernmost brewery with guided tours that take you through 130 years of beer brewing history. In the evening, make your own way down to the harbour for your Northern Lights Dinner Cruise on a hybrid electric boat. Cruise silently into the darkness of the Tromso fjords while enjoying an a dinner cooked with locally-sourced, seasonal and fresh ingredients. In warmth and comfort, cruise through icy waters , past snow-covered mountains and landmarks like the Arctic cathedral. Day 8 Tromso Departure

Breakfast at the hotel, transfer by shuttle bus from the city centre to Tromso Airport. End of arrangements.
