From Norway’s capital Oslo, ride the world’s most famous train, the Flåm Railway, before joining Hurtigruten’s northbound coastal voyage. Visit charming hamlets, sail through picturesque fjords and search for the magnificent Northern Lights on this journey into the heart of Norway. On arrival into the sleepy town of Kirkenes in Norway’s far north, head south into Finnish Lapland where you’ll see the night sky from inside your glass igloo. Then discover Finnish Lakeland, where you’ll stay in beautiful log accommodation in the wilderness. Take in Helsinki, Finland’s capital, and experience a day trip to medieval Tallinn in Estonia.

Day 1 Oslo Arrival
Make your own way to your hotel in Oslo, check in for 2 nights. Tonight, meet the tour leader and your fellow travellers over a welcome dinner. Overnight at Clarion Hotel The Hub or similar.

Day 2 Oslo: Arrival and City Sightseeing
After breakfast, enjoy a half day city tour of Oslo, taking in the must-see sites, including the Vigeland Park, Oslo Opera House, Holmenkollen ski jump and more. Entrance to the Viking Ship Museum, a highlight of any visit to Oslo, is included. 2nd overnight at Clarion Hotel The Hub or similar.

Day 3 Oslo – Myrdal – Flåm “Norway in a Nutshell”
After breakfast begin the famous 'Norway in a Nutshell' journey, catching the train from Oslo to Myrdal and changing trains to begin the famous Flåm Rail, with its spectacular fjord views. Arrive into Flåm for an overnight stay with dinner. Overnight at Flamsbrygga Hotel or similar.

Day 4 Flåm – Bergen: Fjords and Waterfalls  
Morning ferry from Flåm to Gudvangen, passing through the narrow Nærøyfjord. From Gudvangen the journey then continues by bus, weaving through valleys lined by waterfalls to Voss. There we board a train for Bergen, arriving in the afternoon. Time at leisure. Overnight at Clarion Admiral Hotel Bergen or similar.

Day 5 Bergen: City Sightseeing and Voyage Northbound (Day 1 of Voyage)
Morning at leisure then enjoy a sightseeing tour of picturesque Bergen. See Saint Mary’s Church, Haakon Hall and the UNESCO listed Bryggen wharf area, then visit Troldhaugen, the home of Norway’s most famous composer Edvard Grieg. Here see the delightful Edvard Grieg Museum, Grieg’s villa where he composed music, and his gravesite. The tour ends at Bergen pier where the Hurtigruten ship is waiting. Embark then depart Bergen and head north towards Florø and Ålesund. Overnight on board in an inside cabin.

Day 6 Alesund (Day 2 of Voyage)
Enjoy the scenery as the ship navigates the skerries and islands further north, before reaching Alesund, renowned for its beautiful Art Nouveau architecture. Leaving Alesund, we head north towards Trondheim. 2nd overnight on board.

Day 7 Trondheim (Day 3 of Voyage)
Early morning arrival into Trondheim, with time to explore Norway’s first capital. Look out for the storehouses along the river built on wooden stilts. 3rd overnight on board.

Day 8 Arctic Circle & Lofoten Islands (Day 4 of Voyage)
As we cross the Arctic Circle, the hunt for the Northern Lights begins! Onboard learn more about the ‘Aurora Borealis’ during a presentation focused on this phenomenon. Later, the ship enters the dramatic and narrow Raftsund, and if the weather and ice conditions allow, sails on to the entrance of the famous Trollfjord. 4th overnight on board.

Day 9 Tromso (Day 5 of Voyage)
After a morning stop in Finnsnes, the ship continues to Tromso, the major Norwegian cultural hub above the Arctic Circle, famed as a viewing point for the Northern Lights. The city’s historic centre is distinguished by its centuries old wooden houses, and the 1965 Arctic Cathedral, with its distinctive peaked roof and soaring stained-glass windows, dominates the skyline. After an exhilarating day in Tromso, continue northbound. The ship is now sailing into the area along the coast with the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights. 5th overnight on board.

Day 10 Honningsvag & The North Cape (Day 6 of Voyage)
Honningsvag is the nearest port to the North Cape, only 2000km from the Geographical North Pole. Continue to Kjollefjord where we might see the Northern Lights on a clear, starlit sky. 6th overnight on board.

Day 11 Kirkenes – Saariselka: Sami Culture, Siida Museum and Reindeer Farm Visit
Admire dramatic coastal vistas as we approach Kirkenes, where we disembark. Enjoy a short drive through Kirkenes, which is very close to the Russian border, and learn more about its history, before making our way through Finnish Lapland to Inari, the capital of the Sami, the traditional reindeer herding nomads of Scandinavia. Here we visit the Siida Sami museum and a reindeer farm. Overnight at Holiday Club Saariselka or similar.

Day 12 Saariselka: Husky Farm Visit
Today visit a husky farm and learn about the life and training of these unique Arctic dogs. In the evening, weather depending, there may be optional evening Aurora Borealis tours offered. 2nd overnight at Holiday Club Saariselka or similar.

Day 13 Saariselka – Sinetta: Santa Claus Village and Overnight Glass Igloo
Today we visit Santa Claus Village, where you will have free time to explore. Here you can walk across the Arctic Circle, meet Santa, and send cards with a special Arctic Circle postmark from Santa’s own Post Office. There are some great souvenirs and local handicrafts for sale, plus plenty of fun activities such as meeting Santa's reindeer, or visiting the snowmobile museum or Snowman World (entrances not included). In the evening, enjoy a truly unique Arctic experience, spending the night in a glass igloo. Overnight at the Arctic Snowhotel, Sinnetta.

Day 14 Sinetta – Rovaniemi
Depart Sinetta and transfer to Rovaniemi. The remainder of the day is free to explore charming Rovaniemi, the capital of Finnish Lapland and Santa's Official Home Town. This is a real winter city and you may see the Christmas lights, decorations and other sights including the ski jumps and rivers. Or enjoy one of the optional excursions which will be offered. Overnight at Sokos Hotel Vaakuna or similar

Day 15 Rovaniemi – Jarvisydan: Finnish Wilderness 
This morning travel to Järvisydän, a unique hotel resort spa in the Finnish wilderness. In the afternoon, relax and enjoy a spa treatment or participate in many of the outdoor activities the resort has to offer. Overnight at Jarvisydan Hotel spa & resort or similar.

Day 16 Jarvisydan – Helsinki: City Sightseeing
Leave the wilderness of Järvisydän to Helsinki, Finland’s capital. Enjoy a half day city tour before checking into our hotel. Overnight at Scandic Grand Marina or similar.

Day 17 Helsinki – Tallinn - Helsinki: Day trip with Sightseeing
An early start with a full day excursion to the medieval town of Tallinn in Estonia. Take the ferry followed by a combined bus and walking tour of the city. Stops will include the baroque Kadriorg Park and the seaside district of Pirita, the winding, cobblestoned streets of the Old Town, Toompea Castle, home to the Estonian parliament, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the Dome Church. Enjoy some free time before boarding the ferry to return to Helsinki. Tonight, enjoy a special farewell dinner. 2nd overnight at Scandic Grand Marina or similar.

Day 18 Helsinki Departure
Arrangements end this morning after breakfast.
