This Escorted tour takes you to the heart of the Baltics - Vilnius, Nida, Liepaja, the Curonian Spit, Riga, Parnu and Tallinn.

Itinerary

Day 1 Vilnius Arrival

Private transfer from the airport to your hotel. Accommodation at Hotel Artis Centrum or similar for two nights. Check-in and early evening welcome meeting with your tour escort and fellow guests.

Day 2 Vilnius City Sightseeing: Trakai Castle

Vilnius has over 1,200 medieval buildings and 48 churches. The morning sightseeing tour includes a panoramic tour of the city and a walking tour of the Old Town, which sees Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Tower, Peter & Paul Church, St. Anne's Church, Old University and the Gates of Dawn. Afternoon excursion to Trakai, the medieval capital of Lithuania, with the well preserved Trakai Castle, beautifully located on an island in Lake Galve. The evening offers an optional traditional Lithuanian dinner at Restaurant Senoji Trobele.

Day 3 Vilnius - Kaunas - Nida

Departing from Vilnius, travel to the western part of Lithuania. Stop in Kaunas, the former capital of Lithuania, to admire the beautiful Old Town and the elegant white Baroque Town Hall. After short afternoon walking tour in Klaipeda, take a ferry to reach the Curonian Spit before reaching Nida resort town. Check in at Hotel Nerija or similar. The evening offers an optional authentic fisherman dinner at “Tik Pas Jona”.

Day 4 Nida - Curonian Spit - Liepaja

Morning tour of the Curonian Spit, a thin, 100km stretch of land between the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon with small fishing villages, pine forests and endless sand dunes. See the spectacular Parnidis Dune and Naglis Dune, the Hill of Witches in Juodkrante and Thomas Mann’s summerhouse. Afternoon departure towards Liepaja and check in at Hotel Art Roma or similar. The evening offers an optional casual dinner at a beach café Red Sun Buffet, right on the wide sandy beach.

Day 5 Liepaja - Rundale Palace - Riga

Liepaja takes its name from the numerous linden trees in the city. Start the day with a short stroll in the Old Town with the Trinity Church and visit Jurmala Park and the former Naval Port area with its famous Orthodox Cathedral. Continue through Southern Latvia to the magnificent Rundale Palace, the former summer residence of the Duke of Courland. Following a guided tour of the palace, travel through Latvia to reach Riga at late afternoon. Check in at Hotel Radisson Blu Latvija or similar for three nights.

Day 6 Riga: Town Walking Tour & Jurmala Seaside Resort, Organ Recital Dome Cathedral

Founded in 1201 by the German bishop Albert, Riga is the largest of the three Baltic capitals and boasts a real kaleidoscope of architectural styles. The walking tour of the morning takes to Art Nouveaux district and Old Town including Riga Castle, the Dome Cathedral, St. Peter’s Church, the Swedish Gate, the Three Brothers, the Large and Small Guilds and the Freedom Monument. Afternoon visit to Jurmala, the vibrant Latvian sea resort, famous for its wooden architecture and sandy beaches. Evening organ concert at the lovely old Dome Cathedral.

Day 7 Riga: Sigulda and Ethnographical Open Air Museum

Discover medieval Latvia with a morning tour to the stunning scenery of the Gauja National Park and the town of Sigulda. Listen to the medieval Latvian legend of the Rose of Turaida and see the ruins of the Episcopal Castle and of the Castle of the Knights of the Sword before returning to Riga. Afternoon visit to the Ethnographical Open Air Museum, a spacious exposition of 18th century country life. In the evening enjoy an optional Latvian dinner at the stylish Restaurant Kalku Varti.

Day 8 Riga - Tallinn: Parnu Summer Resort & Land of Forests

Continue along the coastal highway to the Estonian summer resort of Parnu. Take a short tour of the resort before continuing through the North Estonian land of forests. Arrive in Tallinn early afternoon, check-in at the Hotel Radisson Blu Olympia or similar for two nights.

Day 9 Tallinn: Old Town Sightseeing, Kadriorg Park and KUMU Art Museum

Tallinn is a charming blend of medieval tranquillity and modern urban life. The medieval Old Town is a busy place in the summer with its many shops, galleries, souvenir markets, outdoor cafés and restaurants. The morning sightseeing tour takes us around the old medieval city walls and into the Old Town where we see Toompea Castle, the Dome Church, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the medieval Old Town Hall and the Great Guild Hall. Afternoon excursion to Kadriorg Park and KUMU, the award winning Estonian art museum with collections of classic and contemporary fine art. In the evening, you might like to enjoy the optional Medieval dinner at Restaurant Maikrahv.

Day 10 Tallinn Departure

Private transfer from the hotel to the airport or railway station and end of arrangements.
