Travel from Bergen to the wonderful fjords of Norway, then on to fascinating and historic Stockholm.

Day 1 Arrive Bergen
On arrival transfer* from the airport to your hotel and time at leisure. Bergen is known as the capital of the fjords and is situated on a peninsula surrounded by seven mountains. The city's history is closely connected with the sea and trade and the picturesque historic waterfront is delightful.  Accommodation at Hotel Scandic Ornen or similar.

Day 2 Bergen City Sightseeing
Morning at leisure. The afternoon panoramic sightseeing tour introduces us to this remarkable Hanseatic city, with the Bryggen area of old wooden houses, the traditional Fish Market and city centre with the St. Mary’s Church and Haakon’s Hall the highlights.

Late this afternoon, early this evening or tomorow morning you may like to take an optional ride on the Bergen Floeibanen, the funicular travelling to the peak of Mount Floyen, 320m above sea level, from where you can enjoy fantastic views over the city and fjord.

Day 3 Bergen - Stalheim
The morning is at leisure so you may explore more of the stunning Norwegian fjord capital in your own time. In the afternoon, we travel to historic Voss, with it's scenic background of snow clad mountains. After a break here, we continue towards Naeroy Valley and Stalheim, with fantastic views down Stalheim Gorge. Accommodation and dinner at Hotel Stalheim or similar.

Day 4 Stalheim - Flam - Fagernes
Today we continue through fjords and their formidable, water-drowned glacial valleys flanked by almost impossibly rugged terrain, to Gudvangen. Cross Naeroyfjord and reach Flam village- here you can either have time at leisure to explore the village, or you can take either an optional trip on the Flam railway or an optional coach trip to Stegastein Viewpoint - see below.

Optional Flam Railway Duration: approximately 2 hours. The Flam Railway also known as the Flamsbana is one of the steepest train lines in the world on normal tracks. The 2-hour return train journey runs through fantastic nature, past the Rallar Road, steep mountains, breathtaking waterfalls, 20 tunnels and offers a multitude of views. In the span of the trip  the train takes you from the ocean level at the Sognefjord in Flam, to the mountaintop at Myrdal mountain station on Hardangervidda, 863 metres above the ocean.

Optional Stegastein Viewpoint Excursion Duration: approximately 2 hours. The Stegastein Viewpoint is part of the Norwegian Scenic Route that runs from Aurland to Laerdal. The viewpoint structure juts out 30 metres from the mountainside, 650 metres above the fjord, and offers an unparalleled panorama. A more amazing view of the fjord, mountains and surrounding is hard to imagine.

In the afternoon, we continue along Aurlandsfjord, for a photo stop at the famous Borgund Stave Church before travelling on to Fagernes. Accommodation and dinner at Hotel Scandic Valdres or similar.

Day 5 Fagernes - Oslo: Viking Capital
After breakfast we leave the majestic Norwegian fjords behind us and return to Oslo in the early afternoon. Founded in 1048 it is Scandinavia’s oldest capital and is today, a very pleasant and easy city with an interesting mix of historical and modern architecture. Our late afternoon panoramic city sightseeing starts with a visit to Frogner Park, decorated with the unique sculptures of Gustav Vigeland. We then pass by City Hall and the main street, Karl Johan, which leads to the Royal Palace. Accommodation at Hotel Thon Opera or similar.

Day 6 Oslo - Stockholm: Forests, Lakes and Vistas
Today we head for Stockholm, passing through Norwegian forests and across the border, to the Swedish farm county of Varmland. Throughout the day we travel through typical, local landscapes with fertile farmland, blue lakes and thick forests, which evoke an atmosphere of intriguing fairytales. Please note this journey may be by train or coach. Afternoon arrival in Stockholm; accommodation at Hotel Scandic Grand Central or similar.

Day 7 Stockholm Sightseeing
Stockholm (known as "The Beauty on the Water") is undoubtedly one of the loveliest capitals in the world. Built on 14 islands, it is protected from the sea by Skargarden archipelago.Morning sightseeing takes us to the Old Town with the Royal Palace and Cathedral, then to the city centre with its famous City Hall. The afternoon is yours to spend as you wish or you may wish to add an optional 2 hour privately guided visit to the Vasa Museum, to see the remains of the Vasa, an intact 17th century warship, one of the world's largest viking ships and the pride of the mighty Swedish navy. The Museum is built around the warship, which sank in Stockholm's inner harbour on her maiden voyage in 1628; its discovery in 1956 and subsequent salvage in 1961 is one of the most important events in marine archaeology. Painstakingly restored to its original magnificence, the Vasa represents an authentic piece of living history.
