This fantastic tour sees the very best of Norway's fjords with spectacular scenery, magnificent waterways, green wooded mountains, lakes and waterfalls. Also visit the historic cities of Bergen and Stavanger, enjoy a cruise on Sognefjord, Aurlandsfjord and Lysefjord, go to local farms and much more.   

Day 1  Bergen Arrival
Arrive in Bergen and make your own way to the hotel. Time at leisure. Tonight at 19:00hrs, meet your tour leader and fellow travellers in the hotel lobby. Together you will walk to a local restaurant in Bryggen for a delicious, 3-course welcome dinner. Overnight at Bergen Børs Hotel or similar. 

Day 2  Bergen - Fitjar - Stavanger
After breakfast, enjoy spectacular views of the 'City of Rhododendrons' as you leave Bergen and drive towards the island landscapes of Norway's South West coast, en route to Stavanger. Ferry across from Halhjem to Sandvikvåg, then a short drive to Fitjar, before continuing by RIB boat out to Engesund Fish Farm. After learning about the Norwegian fishing industry, what makes a ‘happy fish’ and how the operate a sustainable fish farm, we will be able to taste some salmon and their famous fish soup for lunch. Returning to the mainland, we proceed South past islands and over bridges, en route to Arsvågen where we board the ferry to Mortavika. Onwards to Stavanger - a cosmopolitan town in Rogaland region and Norway’s 4th largest city. Overnight at Clarion Collection Hotel Skagen Brygge or similar. 

Day 3  Stavanger: Lysefjord Cruise with optional Hike to Pulpit Rock
This morning, enjoy a short walking tour of Stavanger, passing Norway's oldest cathedral and Old Stavanger, home to Northern Europe’s biggest and best-preserved concentration of wooden houses, with over 170 dwellings built between the late 18th and early 19th Centuries. Then we take an unforgettable, 3hr cruise along majestic Lysefjord to see Pulpit Rock - an amazing flat rock formation standing above the fjord, with sheer rock walls rising up to 1km. Also see towering waterfalls, idyllic islands and breathtaking scenery. Discover the secret Vagabond’s Cave (Fantahålå) and taste clear mountain water from Hengjane falls, before returning to Stavanger. If you wish, you can add an optional Pulpit Rock hike (approx. 4hrs return). You will travel by bus from Forsand to Preikestolen Mountain Lodge to start your hike. The walk is quite steep in parts but you are rewarded with astonishing views of Lysefjord from 600m up. Bus departs Preikestolen Mountain Lodge for Tau at 17:35hrs, then board the ferry back to Stavanger returning at 19:00hrs. Overnight at Clarion Collection Hotel Skagen Brygge or similar.

Day 4  Stavanger - Rosendal - Lofthus
Travel by coach, then ferry from Mortavika to Arsvågen and continue towards Hardanger region. Lunch is included en route. Board the ferry at Skånevik for Utåker, crossing Åkrafjord before reaching Hardangerfjord. Famous for its many orchards, blossom-time depends on Spring temperatures, but the trees usually blossom from mid-May until mid-June. First is the cherry and plum blossoms, followed by the pears and apples. Drive along the fjord to Rosendal and visit Baroniet Rosendal Manor House & Gardens, and step back in time. Enjoy a tour of the house (1665) and walk through the beautiful, flowering, Renaissance garden and landscape park. A short drive to Ænes takes us to a recreational farm retreat, Gygratun. Experience a guided tour and learn more about the traditional, Norwegian farm lifestyle.

Later, our drive continues under reach of Folgefonna Glacier, past Sandvevatnet Lake for beautiful views of the glacier and further on, we see thundering Låtefossen. Hereafter the route journeys North, passing Odda and Tyssedal - industrial towns dating back to the 19th Century. As we drive the Scenic Route along Sørfjord, an arm of Hardangerfjord, enjoy amazing views of fruit trees in blossom, before a late afternoon arrival in Lofthus. Dinner in the hotel's dining room, Spisesalen, sees their renowned and impressive range of dishes, mainly homemade from local produce. Overnight at Hotel Ullensvang or similar. 

Day 5  Lofthus: Day at Leisure
A day at leisure leaves you free to explore the hotel and surrounding area. Enjoy a spectacular view from the hotel while swimming in the indoor or outdoor pools, play a game of tennis or squash, even try a golf simulator, or join your tour leader on a walk up the trail behind the hotel, to learn more about fruit farming and local history. You can extend the walk further to Elvadalen for a closer view of the waterfalls. Perhaps, take an optional helicopter sightseeing tour (choose from 12, 15 or 30min rides). These all offer unique and astonishing views from above of fjords, mighty blue glaciers, roaring waterfalls and lush valleys. Experienced hikers can take an optional hike to Trolltunga (full day, demanding, 10-12hrs). Dinner and 2nd overnight at Hotel Ullensvang or similar. 

Day 6  Lofthus - Ulvik - Flam - Balestrand
We recommend taking a small overnight bag for your stay in Balestrand. Your large suitcase will be transferred to your hotel in Bergen. You will not need to carry it on and off the ferry. 
Travel north past Kinsarvik and into Eidfjord before stopping to view thundering Vøringsfoss Waterfall (180m). Cross Hardanger Bridge, which is among the longest suspension bridges in the world and drive to Ulvik. We visit the Hardanger Juice and Cider Factory - a traditional apple orchard that also produces liquor. See the farm and production facilities, and also taste the different products, before enjoying lunch in the restaurant with panoramic windows offering views to the fjord below.

In the afternoon continue through Voss and Gudvangen en route to Flåm, located at the most inner part of Aurlandfjord, where we board the express boat to Balestrand. This is a peaceful, 90min voyage on stunning Aurlandsfjord and Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in Norway. From the sun deck, enjoy spectacular scenery ranging from cascading waterfalls and sheer mountain cliffs, to snow-clad peaks and a variety of wildlife. On arrival in Balestrand, a short walk from the pier sees you at your hotel. Time at leisure to enjoy the surrounding area and this historical hotel. Dating back to 1752, it has been in the Kvikne family since 1877 and they have lovingly  restored and kept it for generations. Today it is a modern hotel with old-world charm and atmosphere, adorned with an extensive collection of artworks and antiques. Dinner and overnight at the Kviknes Hotel.

Day 7  Balestrand - Sognefjord - Bergen
Early morning cruise departs Balestrand, along spectacular Sognefjord and south along the Norwegian West Coast. Arrival in Bergen around midday for a short walk from the ferry pier to your hotel. Time at leisure before taking a guided, walking tour of Bergen where you will see the famous Fish and Flower Market, old Bryggen Harbour with its UNESCO Listed gabled packhouses, the popular Hanseatic Quarter and ancient Maria Church (1130-1170). At 18:00hrs this evening, join your tour leader and fellow travellers for a farewell dinner on a small island just outside the city. A boat takes us on a beautiful, 30min trip from Bryggen to the island Bjorøy and one of Norway’s best seafood eateries, Cornelius Restaurant, Enjoy a unique setting with views of the fjord, mountains, skerries and passing boats, as you dine on a wondrous 5-course dinner. Late evening return to Bergen. Overnight at Bergen Børs Hotel or similar. 

Day 8  Bergen Departure
Arrangements end after breakfast.
