"Had a truly amazing time in Longyearbyen, Svalbard and it was something we will never forget going out into the wilderness first on the dog sleds and then on snowmobiles. The scenery and colours as the sun rose just above the mountains and set within about half an hour were literally out of this world. If you are looking for an experience different from the usual trip abroad then we would highly recommend this trip." -Kim P. U.K. 2018

Svalbard or Spitsbergen means 'the cold coasts' and was first mentioned in Icelandic texts in the 12th Century. It is a truly unique place of wild nature, glaciers & polar bears. Over 60% of Svalbard is a protected area, including 3 nature reserves, 6 national parks & 15 bird sanctuaries. Austfonna, the world's 3rd largest icecap, is here and has a glacier front of over 200 km. Explore this astonishing place over 5 great days. Your tour arrangements include accommodation, transfers and guided excursions from Longyearbyen.

Day 1 Arrival Longyearbyen
On arrival, transfer by coach to your hotel. Time at leisure - relax and enjoy the town. Perhaps visit Svalbard Museum, the North Pole Expedition Museum and Svalbard Kirke, or browse the shops for a unique souvenir. Accommodation at Basecamp Hotel with breakfast.

Day 2 Longyearbyen: Snowshoe Walk
Today meet your guide at your hotel to be fitted with poles and snowshoes and learn the principles of snowshoeing, and to decide on today's route, depending on weather and local conditions- Longyearbreen, Larsbreen and Breinosa are some of the possible destinations. Along the way, enjoy hot drinks and breathtaking silence. There’s simply no better way to spot wildlife than padding quietly into snowy covered mountains.

Day 3 Longyearbyen: Dog Sled Adventure to the Ice Cave
The arctic wilderness offers wonderful experiences when you go for a ride with your own dog sled.  Transfer to the kennel outside town to rendezvous with some 4 legged friends, and after a safety briefing and driving instruction we set off! Once we start, the only noise you will hear is the whisper of the sled runners gliding over the ice and snow. Arriving at the glacier we take a closer look inside and explore the fantastic formations of ice and rocks shaped by nature’s own forces. Depending on the weather, we will have lunch either inside the cave, or outside enjoying the beautiful scenery. Then it's back to the husky kennel to say farewell to the dogs, before transferring back to Longyeabyen. 2 persons share the driving of each sled.
