Drive through the west coast and see mountains and fjords of Norway, in this tour from Bergen to Trondheim. Your tour arrangements include a ride on the famous Flam Railway, a cruise on the beautiful Sognefjord, and an excursion on Briksdal Glacier.

Day 1 Arrival in Bergen
Arrive at Bergen airport, pick-up your rental car and drive to your hotel. We recommend a visit to the famous fish and flower market, old port of Bryggen, and the Hanseatic quarters. It is possible to take a funicular ride up the Mountain Floien and enjoy panoramic views of Bergen and its surroundings. Overnight in Bergen.

Day 2 Bergen - Flam Railway - Balestrand 286km
After breakfast depart from Bergen, driving via Dale to the town of Voss and then to Flam. In Flam board the famous Flamsbana Train for an exhilarating ride on the amazing Flam Railway to Myrdal. After your return to Flam on the train, drive via Gudvangen, across the Vika Mountains to Vangsnes, for the short ferry ride to Dragsvik (ferry ticket not included and only purchasable onboard), and on to Balestrand. Stay two nights with dinner at Kvikne's Hotel or similar in Balestran .

Day 3 Balestrand Day at Leisure
Day free in Balestrand. You can enjoy the outstanding beaty and nature of the fjords. You may want to spend the morning relaxing on the hotel terrace, breathing in the fresh mountain air and enjoying the spectacular views. We can also recommend a visit to the local aquarium and art gallery, or you may prefer to rent a bike or a rowing boat from the hotel, or even go on foot up to the nearest mountains, for some astonishing views. Dinner and 2nd night at Balestrand.

Day 4  Balestrand - Briksdal Glacier - Hellesylt - Geiranger 260km
Leave Balestrand and drive back to Dragsvik to take the ferry across to Hella (ferry ticket not included and only purchasable onboard). Pass the Jostedal Glacier, the largest in Europe, to the village of Skei.

Then descend to the beautiful Nord Fjord, making a detour at Olden to visit the world-famous Briksdal Glacier. Then enjoy a journey up to the glacier in open cars,  starting at 11.45am, for the best of views. Continue via Stryn to the picturesque village of Hellesylt. From here take the ferry at 15.30 for a cruise along the spectacular Geiranger Fjord, possibly the most impressive of all the Norwegian fjords, passing magnificent waterfalls including the Bridal Veil and The Seven Sisters. Then on to Geiranger for dinner at the hotel and overnight.

Day 5 Geiranger - the Trolls Road - Alesund 108 km
After breakfast drive to Eidsdal for the short ferry crossing to Linge (ferry ticket not included and only purchasable onboard)  before reaching the famous Trolls Road. Surrounded by high peaks this mountain road has its name from the old folk tales of trolls and dwarfs. Continue west to Ålesund. In 1905 it was devastated by fire but was rebuilt within 3 years in the fashionable style of the time, Art Nouveau. East of the town centre a winding road climbs through a lovely residential district to the top of Mount Aksla, a promontory overlooking the town, and ends at Fjellstua (the Mountain Lodge) from which there is a stunning view of the town and the various islands. Overnight in Alesund.

Day 6 Alesund - Atlantic Highway - Kristiansund - Trondheim 365 km
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before departure from Ålesund to Vestnes for a ferry to Molde (ferry ticket not included and only purchasable onboard). From Molde continue north. If time/weather permits, we recommend a hike to the Troll Church, an amazing construction of three limestone grottos with underground waterfalls.

Afterwards enter the scenic route through the Atlantic Highway, which is often referred to as the most beautiful stretch of road in the world. Drive through the Atlantic Ocean tunnel to Kristiansund, through the city and continue to Kanestraum for ferry to Halsa (ferry ticket not included and only purchasable onboard). Continue along fjords and mountains to Trondheim, a charming town of colourful wooden houses and small shops. We recommend a visit to the fantastic Nidaros Cathedral (Nidaros Domen). Overnight in Trondheim.
