Make your own way to the Copenhagen airport for your flight to the Faroe Islands. On arrival, transfer to your accommodation on Vágar Island. The rest of the day is at leisure.
This morning travel by ferry (included) from the village of Sørvagur on Vágar Island to Mykines Island, sailing past magnificent cliff faces; the travel time is approximately 45 minutes. On arrival, enjoy a guided hike to Mykinesholmur, where you can see the charming and comical puffins with their colourful beaks. Walk along the footbridge across the North Atlantic Ocean, 35m above the sea, that connects this small islet with the main island, and marvel at the free standing rock formations that surround the lighthouse at the edge of the sea cliff here. You can also see many impressive gannets, which breed only on the islet. Packed lunch provided. Return by ferry to Vágar for 2nd overnight.
This morning travel by local bus and ferry via the island of Sandoy to Skúvoy, where the famous Viking chieftain Sigmundur Brestisson built the Faroe Islands' first Christian church. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed at a private home to enjoy coffee and cake - your host can also recommend some suitable self guided walks for you. Dinner and overnight on Skúvoy.
Return by ferry from Skúvoy to Sandoy, also called the Saga Island. Upon arrival on Sandoy, meet your local driver/guide for a sightseeing tour of the island, which has been inhabited since the age of the Vikings. Visit the villages as you listen to exciting sagas and stories, then continue on to the village of Skálavík. A packed lunch is included. Overnight on Sandoy.
Today travel by bus and ferries via Tórshavn to the island of Suðuroy. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as you sail past the islands of Sandoy, Stóra Dímun and Lítla Dímun. In Tvøroyri you can see some of the historic buildings used by the Danish Royal Monopoly Store. Overnight on Suðuroy.
Sightseeing with driver/guide who will show you around the island of Suðuroy, which has a rich history and unforgettable view points. Lunch en route. In afternoon/evening return to Tórshavn by ferry. Overnight in Tórshavn.
Today travel by ferry to the island of Nólsoy. Enjoy a guided village walk and listen to the story about the local hero, Ove, who decided to row single-handed to Copenhagen. Then perhaps take a walk on your own to the top of the island, where you have the most wonderful panoramic views of Tórshavn and the surrounding islands. Return to Tórshavn for 2nd overnight.
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to Copenhagen. On arrival at Copenhagen airport, your tour arrangements end.
You can extend your stay with two extra days on the island of Fugloy. Includes local guide and accommodation with full board.
Four nights accommodation are spent in hotels with private facilities, and three nights accommodation in Bed and Breakfast Guesthouses with shared facilities.
Bus and ferry tickets are not included (with the exception of the ferry to the island of Mykines). Tickets can only be purchased on the bus/ferry (Est DKK400 pp cash accepted only). Information regarding ferry and bus schedules will be provided.
In the event of bad weather, it may be necessary to make changes to the program including excursions and accommodation.
You can also take the tour from/to Reykjavik, Bergen, Edinburgh, Billund and Paris - days of departure, excursions and prices may alter.
