Small group tour with a local guide showcasing the rich natural and cultural sights of the Faroe Islands. Experience the unique atmosphere and the charming blend of old and new. The tour will take you around the islands reachable by road and you will spend your nights in three different hotels, providing a real insight into the Faroese community.

Itinerary

Day 1 Copenhagen - Vágar, Faroe Islands

Make your own way to Copenhagen Airport for your flight to the Faroe Islands. On arrival at Vágar Airport, meet your guide and transfer to Hotel Vágar or similar. Information meeting and sightseeing with your driver guide on the island of Vágar. Evening dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 Vágar – Vestmanna, Streymoy – Gjógv, Eysturoy

Guided tour by bus from Vágar through the subsea tunnel to Vestmanna. Then by boat to the Vestmanna bird cliffs. Time afterwards to visit the Saga Museum and lunch will be served in the restaurant. The tour continues through Streymoy to Eysturoy and to the charming village Gjógv. Dinner will be served at Hotel Gjáargarður or similar, where you will stay for the next two nights. During your time in Gjógv you will experience a Cultural evening with Faroese food, dance and music.

Day 3 Northern Islands - Borðoy and Kunoy

Full day sightseeing around the northern islands of Borðoy and Kunoy, known for high mountains and tiny traditional villages. Lunch in Klaksvik, the second largest city of the Faroe Islands. Return to Gjógv for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 Eysturoy and Streymoy – Tórshavn

Full day sightseeing on Eysturoy and Streymoy. Depart Gjógv and drive towards Eiði where you will pass the highest mountain on the Faroe Islands, Slættaratindur (880m). From Eiði over the Atlantic bridge to Tjørnuvík and later to Saksun. Pass the old whaling station at Áir. Arrival in the capital Tórshavn for two nights stay. Dinner in a restaurant in Tórshavn's city centre.

Day 5 Torshavn: City Sightseeing and Kirkjubøur

Half day Tórshavn city sightseeing by bus for an overview over the city, its history and architecture. Visit the old town Reyni, the World's oldest parliament Tinganes and the fort Skansin. Continue to the historical village Kirkjubøur - the old cultural centre of the Faroe Islands. Visit the 900-year-old Roykstovan, where the King's yeoman still lives after 17 generations; Ólav's church from 1111AD and see the ruins of St. Magnus Cathedral. Lunch in Tórshavn. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 6 Tórshavn – Vágar – Copenhagen

Morning tour to Vágar island. Boat trip on board the vessel “Lakeside” on the Sørvágsvatn/Leitisvatn Lake, to the waterfall Bøsdalafossur. Lunch on board. Transfer to Vágar airport, which is nearby, for your flight to Copenhagen. Arrangements end upon arrival at Copenhagen airport.
