Maximise your chances of seeing the fabled Northern Lights above the Arctic Circle across three countries on this small group escorted tour. Begin with two nights in a Panorama Hut at Vaattunki Wilderness Resort, Rovaniemi, Finland. Then on to the original Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden. Conclude in Tromso, Northern Norway.

Itinerary

07 February Rovaniemi Arrival 

Arrive in Rovaniemi and transfer to Vaattunki Wilderness Resort, located by the rapids of the River Raudanjoki - in a dark, quiet area - ideal for Aurora searching! The Resort is only a 12 minute drive to Santa Claus Village and 20 minute drive to Rovaniemi city centre. On arrival, you will collect your thermal outerwear (overalls, boots, woollen socks, gloves). Each Panorama Hut is made from timber and represents modern Finnish style, inspired by nature, with a large panoramic window for Aurora hunting next to the bed. Welcome dinner and overnight.  

08 February Rovaniemi: Santa Claus Village, Northern Lights Hunt by Electric Snowmobile

Breakfast is served at the Lodge. Transfer to Santa Claus Village and time at leisure for 3 hours. We recommend purchasing lunch in the Village, perhaps try Santamus Restaurant and maybe visit Snowman World (tickets can be purchased on the spot). Return transfer to the Lodge for relaxation and dinner. After dinner, experience the silence of a 3 hour Northern Lights hunt by Electric Snowmobile, two persons per snowmobile (valid drivers licence required). 2nd overnight and dinner at Vaattunki Wilderness Resort.

09 February Rovaniemi, Finland to Icehotel Jukkasjärvi, Sweden

Breakfast at the Resort and return your thermal outerwear, before heading North to Sweden by coach, approximately 5 hours. A stop will be made along the way to purchase food and drinks (own expense). Afternoon arrival at the original Icehotel in Jukkasjarvi, check in to warm accommodation for two nights (Kaamos room). If you are feeling adventurous and would like to experience an optional night in Ice room instead - please enquire for the additional cost. Own arrangements for dinner at the Icehotel (own expense) at the main Icehotel Restaurant or the traditional Homestead Restaurant.

10 February Icehotel: Husky Safari

Breakfast at the Icehotel. Today enjoy a 3 hour husky safari with lunch included. You will be driven by a skilled musher. Sit back in the sled and enjoy this amazing experience. 2nd overnight at Icehotel. Own arrangements for dinner at the Icehotel (own expense) at the main Icehotel Restaurant or the traditional Homestead Restaurant.

11 February Icehotel Jukkasjärvi to Tromso, Norway 'The Arctic Route'

Breakfast at the Icehotel, transfer by coach to the train station for your 3.5 hour journey to Narvik, Norway. This train journey is dramatic and will leave you breathless as you travel between Sweden and Norway. Upon arrival into Narvik you will be transferred by coach to Tromso. There will be an opportunity to purchase food and drink before the coach journey to Tromso. Arrival in Tromso mid evening. Check in to Clarion Collection Aurora Hotel for two nights. Light evening buffet dinner at the hotel.

12 February Tromso: Northern Lights Chase

Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure to explore this interesting Arctic city.

Optional Daytime Arctic Fjord Cruise on Hybrid Electric Boat. Cruise into the waters of the Tromsø fjords while admiring the unspoiled nature and wildlife. Enjoy the view from a table next to the panoramic windows. Step ashore in a local fishing village and learn about coastal town traditions. Snacks available for purchase on board. Duration 4-5hrs.

This evening, embark on a 5-7 hour Northern Lights Chase with Norwegian Charm by minibus with a local guide. 2nd overnight at Clarion Collection Aurora Hotel. 

13 February Tromso Departure

Breakfast at the hotel. Arrangements end today with airport bus transfer to Tromso airport.
