Day 6 Saariselka - Kirkenes: King Crab Safari by Snowmobile, Optional Husky Safari or Aurora Search by Bus or SnowHotel Visit

Early morning departure from Rovaniemi. With Finland behind us, we make our way to Kirkenes in far North Eastern Norway. This small town is the most northerly point of the scenic Hurtigruten voyage and is situated just 12km by road from the Russian border.

Welcome to Norway. Your fantastic King Crab excursion starts the moment we arrive. At this local family business, we dress in warm outerwear, receive our safety instructions and head out to the snowmobile-drawn sleds. Touring on the frozen fjord, we stop to pull up some crabs, as we hear stories of these huge creatures. You can also hold one up for your very own Kodak moment. We then head back to the camp where a delicious King Crab meal awaits us at the family's restaurant.

Tonight, we delight in the uniqueness of Kirkenes SnowHotel. Built from scratch every year, the temperature inside is a constant -4°C, no matter what the outside temperature may be. Guests stay in thermal sleeping bags on warm comfortable beds, covered with reindeer skins.
