Glass or Snow Igloo Experience

Overnight in a Glass or Snow Igloo at the Arctic SnowHotel
Arctic SnowHotel Rovaniemi, Finland © Visit Finland

Close to the Arctic Circle you will find the tranquillity of the Arctic SnowHotel, located on the banks of the Lehtojärvi Lake, around 26km from Rovaniemi town centre. The hotel is in an area surrounded by pine trees, far away from the city lights, making it an ideal place for watching the Northern Lights and enjoying starry skies. The hotel's Aurora Alarm searches the night skies for you. Choose from an overnight in a Glass Igloo or Snow Room*.

"This place is truly special to me. Firstly, staying in a glass igloo watching those stars at night is truly wonderful. Secondly, getting to experience a hotel made completely out of snow and ice is like none other, and also dining in the ice restaurant with plates made of ice is also another unique experience. We also got to try the snow sauna and outdoor jacuzzi which was a little crazy but totally fun! And finally I got to witness the most breathtaking Northern Lights I've ever seen while staying there." - Keith L. 2018

Itinerary

Day 1 Rovaniemi - Arctic SnowHotel

Transfer from Rovaniemi Airport or downtown to Arctic SnowHotel for an overnight stay in a Glass or Snow Room*. Your stay includes a 3 course dinner in the Ice Restaurant (only available from approx 15 December onwards) or Log Restaurant, breakfast and Traditional Finnish Sauna (common use).

Glass Igloos: Staying overnight in a Glass Igloo feels like sleeping out in the open, but inside the igloo it is as warm and cosy as a hotel room. Have a good night's sleep as the Aurora Alarm searches the skies for you: if you are lucky enough for the Aurora Alarm to wake you up, all you need to do is open your eyes, look at the night sky and enjoy the Northern Lights from the comfort of your bed. Each Glass Igloo has a bathroom, thermal glass roof and heated floors. Small Igloos (1-3 people) or Family Glass Igloos (1-5 people) are available.

Snow Rooms: are carved each year and always look different. The Snow Rooms are usually completed by approx. 15 December. The walls and furniture of these unique rooms are decorated with ice art and illuminated artwork. As you sleep on a transparent bed made of snow and ice, in a room with the temperature around -5° to -7C°, your sleeping bag is made for extreme, Arctic conditions will make sure you stay warm and comfortable. Snow Rooms have no electricity or water and bathroom facilities are located in a separate building nearby. A very limited number of Snow Suites (1-2 people) and Family Snow Rooms (up to 5 or 6 people) are available. Snow Rooms are not recommended for children under 5 years.
