The run up to Christmas is a magical time in Lapland. Santa is getting ready for his mammoth journey across the world, the elves are busy making all the presents and the snow is falling softly outside in the forest. What better time to pay him a visit with your Christmas wishes for the year? The highlight of your holiday will be your private meeting with Santa himself. In Search of Santa is the perfect package for families who want to enjoy a great Christmas experience but cannot travel at Christmas time itself.
The itinerary shown is for the 4 day tour. The 5 day tour has a slightly altered itinerary - see below.
Arrival at Kittilä Airport and transfer to your accommodation near Muonio. After check in, you will be fitted with the thermal outer clothes which are yours to use during your stay (or, if your arrival time tonight is late, you will be supplied with this clothing tomorrow morning). Dinner at the hotel.
After breakfast, transfer to the local reindeer farm where you can meet the reindeer and their herders, and have the chance to feed and pat them. Learn how to use a lasso like a local, then enjoy a short reindeer-driven sleigh ride. Lunch will be served in the Ice Restaurant located nearby. *Note: lunch in the Ice Restaurant is weather dependent. If the ice restaurant has not been completed or it is extremely cold, lunch will be served around a fire in a traditional kota instead. In the afternoon, visit the husky farm for a guided tour, before meeting some of the husky puppies for a cuddle. Learn a little about the dogs before taking a 6km dog sled safari, with 2 persons sharing the driving of each sled. Tonight a traditional Christmas dinner is served in the hotel.
After breakfast head out for on a 20km snowmobile safari, with 2 persons sharing the driving of each snowmobile. (Children sit snugly in the cosy sled drawn behind the guide's snowmobile). After lunch, the fun continues with a lesson on baking Finnish cookies and making Christmas crafts. Next, we head out into the snow for some winter outdoor fun! Try out some snowshoes, use the cross country skis, or take a toboggan for a speedy ride! Children will also have a chance to drive their own mini snowmobile, under supervision. Then before you know it, you are whisked off on snowmobile sleds to find Santa's secret, forest hideout! Eyes peeled as you go - you might see moving lights as the elves come through the forest to greet you.......they know the secret path to Santa's cabin and will guide your family along the lantern lit path straight to his door, for your short private visit**. Dinner at the hotel tonight.
** Bring with you your child's letter to Santa along with a small gift, and we will have it ready for the family's private visit with Santa.
After breakfast, transfer to Kittilä airport and end of arrangements.
