A week full of Lappish culture, local food and fun. Arrival at Kittila airport and transfer to Torassieppi. Dinner in the restaurant.
This morning, your guide will lead you to the reindeer farm which is a short walk from your accommodation. You will be introduced to the reindeer herder who will take you for a short ride on a reindeer sled and give you an insight into the life of the reindeer. Visit the traditional guest house and museum, to catch a rare glimpse into what life was like this far North before roads and motorised vehicles. Lunch is served in a traditional Lappish kota around a fire. Afternoon at leisure to relax or take a walk round the Winter village with ice bar, restaurant and snow rooms. Dinner will be served in the restaurant. In the evening your guide will tell you more about the fascinating phenomenon of the Northern Lights, followed by a trip to a nearby viewing spot. Here you will build a camp fire, toast marshmallows and enjoy hot chocolate around the fire while waiting for the lights to hopefully make an appearance.
Morning Husky Safari on an exciting 15km ride over the lakes, two persons sharing each dog sled. Lunch will be served in the restaurant. In the early evening you will join your guide in the kota, learning how to cook like a local. The dishes will be served for dinner this evening in the kota. After dinner you can head to your own Aurora Dome for a cosy night with wood burning stove, panoramic view of the lake and with a little luck, the Northern Lights!
Morning at leisure. In the afternoon you will join the guide for some insight into the food and culture of Finland, with tastes of special local delicacies. Dinner will be served in the restaurant, followed by a horse drawn sleigh ride through the silent landscapes - sit cosily in the sleigh and enjoy the quiet of the arctic night, while watching out for the Northern Lights.
After breakfast it is snowmobile time! Your guide will give a full briefing and safety demonstration, before you head out on this 40km safari to the Harriniva Husky Farm, one of the largest husky farms in the world. Meet the friendly dogs and hopefully some pupppies and learn all about these amazing Arctic dogs. Lunch at Harriniva Hotel before returning to Torassieppi. Dinner will be served in the restaurant.
This morning your guide will taking you by minibus to the Pallas fell area, known for its breathtaking beauty. Visit the nature centre to learn more about the area before taking a snowshoe walk to enjoy the surroundings. Then on to Jeris to enjoy a hearty lunch and some well deserved relaxation in the Arctic Spa at the shore of the Jeris lake. Be brave and dip into the icy lake before warming up in the traditional smoke sauna. Dinner will be served in the restaurant.
Day at leisure for relaxation or optional activities - these can include include husky safaris, reindeer sleigh rides, ice fishing, horse riding and sleigh rides, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, evening hunts for the Aurora, and more. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served in the restaurant.
Arrangements end with your transfer back to Kittila airport.
Minimum age: 12 years
The small size of Torassieppi ensures a cosy village atmosphere. The double/twin rooms are located right next to the main building by Lake Toras-Sieppi, all with private facilities.
The peaceful cabins with fireplace are suitable for 4 people and have two separate bedrooms, private facilities, fireplace and kitchenette. The slightly larger cabins for 4-6 people also offer a sauna and a living room with the possibility for an extra bed for two.
The Aurora Dome is a luxury tent, a very comfortable way to spend a night in the wilderness. The tent has a cosy bed and fireplace, and see through side walls so you can gaze towards the northern sky with a view over the Torasjarvi Lake. The scenery to the untouched Lappish wilderness is breathtaking even on cloudy nights! Sauna, toilet and shower facilities are located nearby (50m away).
Arctic Firefox Lodge: extend your stay - optional overnight in privacy and luxury in a lodge with your own private sauna, and panoramic views across Lake Jeris and from your bed. Breakfast, entry to Arctic Sauna World, bathrobes and slippers are included.
The excursions operate with a minimum of 2 persons - if you are a solo traveller and there is no second person booked on an excursion, you may be required to pay additional fees in order for the excursion to proceed.
The order of the excursions may alter according to the day of the week your arrangements start or they may change subject to weather conditions and other safety reasons. Some excursions subject to minimum age & height requirements.
Children under 18 years cannot drive the snowmobile or husky team. They will be sitting in the guide's sled during the safaris.
Snowmobile Safaris: To drive a snowmobile you must have a valid driving license and be 18 years of age or over. All single travellers must drive their own snowmobile solo.
